At first i didn't think that was a lot of ammo for a department that size. I was thinking that there was thousands of agents but there is only about 800 agents nation wide who are allowed to carry firearms. That's roughly 340 rounds per person. Just to put that in perspective. The average pistol carry's between 7-12 rounds per magazine and almost all AR-15's (.223) have 30 round magazines. Even if you have 1 mag in the weapon and say 3 spares that's still a lot of extra ammo. Also, notice the largest ammo purchase is .223 ammo. that is the ammo used in AR15/M4. Every officer in the forest service who carries a weapon will have a pistol, but not all with have a rifle. So why is there double the amount of .223 ammo purchased? Notice the 3 bullets which are bonded and at the bottom you will see the green tip bullet. Bonded bullets dont mess around [ link to i859.photobucket.com]
