apparently, household chemicals are more dangerous for children than having a mom who smoked while pregnant. If you read my other post, you would also know that I recommended organic pipe tobacco, less chemicals (o) than a conventionally grown apple.

Information is powerful, people. I wish you all could see how horribly brainwashed you are. You are all so convinced that tobacco is evil and deadly when tobacco is a very sacred plant. COMMERCIAL CIGARETTES are where you should have your beef at....

My mother smoked when she was pregnant. I grew up in a house with second hand smoke (my dad smokes like a chimney). When I went for testing in my 20's because I couldn't get pregnant the doctor found high levels of cadmium (found in cigarettes) in my liver. My liver congestion was affecting my cycle. I also remember chronic ear infections, throat infections and feeling nauseous throughout my childhood--especially when in the car. I thought this was carsickness. When I moved out I learned realized I was being poisoned. Stop being ignorant and poisoning your children!

I'm just going to share something that happened to someone dear to me. She was going through a horrible divorce. By horrible, I mean that her soon-to-be ex had taken everything from her and their four kids that he could and was using his considerable income to ruin her financially, as well. When he left, he took the last $100 out of her purse and left her with nothing at all with which to buy groceries.

To cope, she had to take a second job and was working seven days a week, on two crazy retail schedules. The woman was always flying from the seat of her pants.

When she wasn't driving the kids to school, she was driving them to their soccer games and practices. And driving to and from both her jobs.

It was a very crazy and emotionally charged time in her life.

What happened a couple of times was that her one son kept forgetting to bring his coat to school. This happened twice, I think, in the same week. It might have happened a third time, or not, (I can't remember).

What I DO remember, though, is that when the woman arrived to pick her kids up from the school, she was told to get them from the principal's office, where social services was waiting for her. She was warned that if she ever let one of her kids forget their coat again, they would take her kids from her.

Now - this woman is an awesome mother who adores her kids. And let me tell you - they are great kids who adore their mother back.

It's really easy to judge people for not being perfect parents.

...the point is that most people smoke commercial cigarettes and poisoning their children at the same time.

The point is people who smoke can greatly reduce health risks to their children and themselves gracefully and easily by switching to organic tobacco AND by smoking outdoors. Now, OP can inform their neighbor of this.

ANY woman who is that irresponsible, selfish, and reckless should be sterilized.

CPS can't take your kids for smoking while pregnant or smoking in the house around your kids. If this was even a notion in anyone's head, to have these kids taken from their parents over smoking, you should do some deep and heavy research about how children are treated in foster care. A huge percentage of these children are given ANTIPSYCHOTICS so that their foster parents can manage MANY depressed and rebellious children WHO MISS THEIR PARENTS. Horrible, wretched things happen to many children in foster care that makes smoking while pregnant seem like a non issue. better think twice before you involve an alphabet agency in someone's life. karma can be a real fucking bitch

Puhleaseee, I think I will ask her if she would mind a gift basket. Throw some organic tobacco in there. I am a thoughtful neighbor, I give her rides almost daily, watch her kids keep me for dinner. Borrowed her money to keep her electric on. Don't tell me I am judging her, thinking it is selfish is not fair of me and I have thought about it I guess it is just a culmination of a lot of things going on there.

What prompte me to post was earlier today she was asking me if I have some extra milk I looked down at her window ledge and see name brand cigs...6 bucks a pack where I live. So I say hmm should of spent it on milk?no? Then I got to thinking well shit isn't it harmful anyway....I was a bit annoyed with her telling her bf she can't vacuum while Preg, and I was kinda like huh?

well, organic roll your owns cost about 1.50 per pack if the tobacco is bought in bulk. vacuuming while pregnant? did she say why? It might hurt her to vacuum.

In all seriousness I know what foster care is like, I as in at least 6 of them. My own sister was molested in one of those. I will always offer what I have to help. I solemnly swear I will never turn someone in for a minor situation like smoking...smh

You mean the other things mentioned can not directly harm a child? They all sound pretty bad to me. I agree, though, smoking is worse while the child is in the fetal stage.
