I was there too. Lived in Soho on Sullivan St off of Spring St. Was having breakfast when the first plane came in. It sounded and felt like a some kind of more than a jet but sounded just like what is heard in the only footage showing the 1st plane coming in. Then a moment of silence followed by a lound low thud. Ran down to the street and looked up to see plane shaped hole. Many people on the block were also looking up, some with cameras.

I ran back up trying to make some quick calls, the lines were already jammed up. I quickly walked to my office as I was to open the building. More people were heading out to the streets. One of the Washington Square regulars at the chess corner was shouting out that the Man was finally getting what was due to him.

I made it to the building, opened it up an went right to the roof just as the 2nd plane came in. The people all along 6th ave let out a roar at seeing the impact. A little later we started to see the jumpers. Some in groups, some alone, some trying to climb down only to let go. After awhile this became too much to bear watching so we retreated inside only going up To the roof from time to time. I noticed later that the TV networks stopped showing how many jumpers there really were.

Just as the first tower started to come down we ran back up to the roof. We could feel the ground shaking as we ran one flight of stairs. By the time we made it back to the roof, all we could see was a pillar of smoke. We were shocked when the smoke cleared as the south tower was gone.

The crowd on 6th ave below gasped in shock. Some started to leave. With the news on the tv mentioning other planes coming in none of us were sure what to do next. Since the building basement is a recording studio with solid walls most of us decided to stay as the clients from Japan had nowhere to go. We called people telling them not to come in. Some of the staff left to see if they could donate blood at the nearby hospitals.

We were up on the roof when the second tower came down, when the dust cleared we could all SEE THE BUILDING CORE DISSAPEAR BEFORE OUR EYES!!! WTF. The crowds on the street below gasped in panic and most started to head north away from the terror. Holy shit what did we just see?

At this point I would say we we all pretty scared. Some of the staff were crying. We all went back inside, some left. When the jets finally showed up there was some sense of relief. We felt the city had some cover. By early evening the staff and clients left and I closed the building up and headed home.

On the way back to my pad I had to show Id to get past police lines that were setup to keep people from downtown. Wow, I was amazed at the line of gigantic dump trucks, the kind with 6ft tires, lined up on both sides of Houston street. How did they organize that so fast?

That night was the quietest nights in the city, no car horns, traffic, or the sounds of people in the street. Just periodic sirens. Went and hung at the Milady's, the local bar with some neighbors. Everyone was in shock as the TV news ran in the backround and we drank to calm our nerves.

IMHO with a physics and engineering degree, i know that there is no way those towers fell without some kind explosive cutting. How else could they fall so far in the time it would take to run one flight of stairs. As a kid I saw a steel and concrete building burn for the better part of a day. Those steel beams were all bent and twisted, but they were still connected together.

Why did the pile burn and run with molten steel like a foundry for months? There was dust everywhere. Within a week I had weird bubble like rashes in my armpits that I have never seen before or since.

I watched and read all the Wtc comission (I mean omission) hearings.
I know in my heart that there is more that meets the eye. Was it LIHOP or MIHOP? Either way crimes of treason were commited on that day.

The most likely candidate at the center is Cheney. He had control that day. No one will ever put him on the stand for treason. It circulated counter clockwise from just very slightly north of NYC straight down to central texas, took a turn into the Gulf and went straight to the Florida Keys, then up the East Coast line and back into NYC.

9/11 was interesting - seeing it was the first time the US government caused two buildings to explode in mid air, and drop a third (wtc 7) with controlled demolition.

Yes I agree it was the worst part. That and the sense of pandemonium and fear of not knowing what to expect next as the day unfolded. By the time building 7 came down people were shell shcoked. I had nightmares about jumpers for at least a few years. Once in awhile they come back as the end of summer rolls around.

Left nyc not long after. Only been back a few times since. The city is not the same anymore.

At least after that day they forbid people from carrying pixie dust in their luggage. Some obviously fell onto WTC 7 after causing 1 and 2 to vaporize in record time.
