It is that simple, accept Jesus as your Lord and savior. Then work out your salvation with fear and trembling. So you dont return to a life of sin.

Re: "Sinner's Prayer" is heresy and no one can of their own will "accept Christ." Salvation is not so simple.
Read the verses I posted about God not hearing sinners. Faith comes first, then prayer. Prayer is last, not first.

The only reason a person would pray for forgiveness in the first place is because they have already been changed by God. If the change is genuine, the prayer would only be the result of the change but not the cause of the change. How would it be possible for a person to genuinely pray to a God they do not believe exists?

According to John the baptist genuine repentance is not merely a confession but a change of character which results in obedience to the law of God. This means that salvation is not easy but requires some "effort" on the part of the person.

You also seem to contradict yourself when you say salvation is easy but that one must also persevere to obtain it. Is salvation easy or not?

One last thing. How can a person accept Christ when no one, unless changed by God, can possibly understand the things of God much less accept them?

But "accepting" Jesus and Sinner's Prayer usually go hand in hand. That is usually how it is said one must accept Christ, by saying some prayer and then getting baptized in water or something along those lines.

If, according to you, being saved is easy, then tell me what makes it so easy? Mind you, Peter said that the righteous are saved with much difficulty (I'll post the verse if you like).

Dear friend, all have sinned and have fallen short of God's glory, there is not one righteous, no not one.

We are save by grace, grace is unmerited favor, if confessing with the mouth and believing in ones heart is not salvation then who can be saved?

If a man says he is saved but I am not saved then he has become the judge and will be judged in like manner on that day!

God is love and everyone who is born of God is filled with His love.

Please be merciful to all humans including your enemies, I for one am so thankful that Jesus Christ has promised that faith as small as a mustard seed is all it takes to enter His eternal kingdom of love.

May Christ fill your heart with His mercy and His love for your fellow man.

In Christ

The sinner's prayer is highly important. But, one must also strive to live a righteous life. In the testimony above, a baptist preacher had an NDE. He found out, that Christians, who live a double-life, lukewarm, or are backslidden, will be endanger of God's 'everlasting wraith'.

You mean this "sinners prayer" that all christians MUST have prayed at some point..as it explains their behaviour so well..

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus.
I acknowledge that you have perfected torture and blackmail, and that if I dont grovel, tremble, and fill myself with pride and fear, that you will burn me alive forever in hell.

And I am not REALLY sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; but if I dont say that you will burn me alive forever.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and had himself tortured to death so you would not have to torture me forever in your great enduring mercy, and I am now willing to turn from my sin....but ONLY because you will torture me if I dont at least pretend to, even though everyone will see how evil I still am by the pride and arrogance and hate that will henceforth spew from my mouth, because I will now think I am above everyone else.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved and avoid the eternal torture that you fashioned before the world began in your great love and mercy.

Right now I confess pride..oops..I mean Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved...and can now freely sin...condemn others,,and look down on them in sheer contempt.

Thank you Jesus for your rather limited grace, which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace always leads to license, pride..arrogance..hate..and sarcstic comments to all those you allow me now to condemn freely. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may sling mud and shit and shame to you alone and especially myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.

Amen.

In his NDE, this pastor after 30 years of service to God, found out God was still angry at him.

According to his account, when he had died, only 2.5% of the population (during a certain time) were saved.

This is indeed a narrow path.

If you listen to the entire testimony, that doesn't mean, that only 2.5 will be saved. What he found, is during a certain time and day in the past (in a very short segment of time, of all people who had died), this is percentage that were saved. Implying currently it's different.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Satan has been telling me for years that I'm not good enough and never will be good enough.

Jesus told me that "IT IS FINISHED".

He died on the cross for me.......a sinner. I can't be perfect on my own, that's why He died for me. He paid the price for me.

I do my own personal best and let Jesus do the rest.

The sinner's prayer is highly important. But, one must also strive to live a righteous life. In the testimony above, a baptist preacher had an NDE. He found out, that Christians, who live a double-life, lukewarm, or are backslidden, will be endanger of God's 'everlasting wraith'.

In his NDE, this pastor after 30 years of service to God, found out God was still angry at him.

According to his account, when he had died, only 2.5% of the population (during a certain time) were saved.

This is indeed a narrow path.

Mathew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

I read his book. God accepted him into heaven, but he let the preacher know that all of the service that the preacher did in the name of God he actually was doing for himself and his own benefit. God knew it, and showed him the truth.

But he wasn't denied entrance to heaven, he was shown where he needed improvement. A teacher, a man of God, is held to a higher standard.

Yea, he stated the reason he served God, was to alleviate his consciousness (this was a first priority), hence as you said was actually serving self. This is a very good and subtle lesson.

I also read his book, also read the one he wrote about Demons. Anyways, in another interview, he had also stated, he served out of a sense of duty. So again, his works and service wasn't first and foremost for God, but serving self, which was a motivating factor. Again, I think this is an excellent lesson.

We live in a country that supports prayer. But, the polticians who tell us to pray DO NOT mention turning against your wicked ways(repentance) Everything is vague, what a surprise.

You can read in the book Jeremiah and elsewhere, unless you turn and abide in God.. your prayers are dead weight.

Please read carefully these theme verses..

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Psalm 66:18
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah 1:15
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

 Quoting: Philemon

The Sinner's Prayer as popularly known today has roots in Christian Protestantism and can be found as early as the eighteenth century revival movement.
So you are partly correct.

Heresy is a strong word, but the Sinner's prayer idea for salvation can be deceptive.

Does God require we ask for His forgiveness?
Yes He does.
Do we have more to do than just pray to receive salvation? Yes we Do.
Is it stupid to argue over what order it take place in?
Yes it is.
So lets get on with Living like God desires and quit arguing about how we get started.
For those not following our "approved methods" may also end up in Heaven.
Rom 2:14 (for when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law unto themselves;
Rom 2:15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them);
Rom 2:16 in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.
