Poverty returns to Europe

So is good to know that Unilever is ready for our poverty by starting to sell single use items. Apparently they already do it in developing countries, like selling small sachets of shampoo for a couple of cents and still manage a healthy profit.




Poverty returns to Europe”, says the European head of Unilever Jan Zijderveld in an interview in Financial Times Deutschland. He says that relatively lower incomes in some parts of European means that his company is having to reassess the type of products it is trying to sell. The paper explains: “In Spain Unilever sold its Surf detergent in packages for five washes. In Greece the group now offers mashed potatoes and mayonnaise in small packages, while basic products such as tea or olive oil are sold under a Greek entry-level brand. The Group has also adopted this strategy in the UK.”
