Recon finding hurricane force winds of 80 mph at the surface now. Isaac about 80 miles SE of mouth of Mississippi.

It's tracking just the way the models are showing! not a western track and it looks to hit land in the next 12 hrs maybe a cat 1

Ice you are right .I would post a satellite pic of Katrina but not good at embedding images. Maybe you could so people could see the difference.

I dont know why all these comparisons to Katrina. They dont really compare well. Katrina peaked out at about as strong as a cane can get and weakened on approach due to the dry Texas air.
Isaac is a slow developer due to dry air to the south. right now it is showing unpredictability. All we know is it is slow and will dump a lot of rain.

not stalling its only a little over a 100 miles from coast at 7 mph about about 12 13 hrs from a hit. That is some serious intensification to get even to a cat 2

Some people were hoping for a big one like Katrina. They have no idea of the suffering caused by Katrina. Why anyone would want that is beyond me.

the loop current is no more....katrina was before the oil spill and all the corexit...there is no comparison to katrina since the gulf conditions are not the same today...

there is no hurricane reported in the gulf...period.

Pititown LA, Wind speed is 22MPH...far cry from hurricane status.....it's a hurricane 'watch'....maybe, but no hurricane right now.

This storm is a FAIL. It has an eye that basically NOT an eye.
