The GOP cheated today: Romney's nomination was against the party's own rules
[link to takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com]

Delegates from Nevada tried to nominate Mr. Paul from the floor, submitting petitions from their own state as well as Minnesota, Maine, Iowa, Oregon, Alaska and the Virgin Islands. That should have done the trick: Rules require signatures from just five states. But the party changed the rules on the spot. Henceforth, delegates must gather petitions from eight states.

That is CHEATING.
Rules for conventions are set prior to the convention. That's the way they've always done it to avoid "cheating" at the next convention. Example, rules made in 2008 were for the 2012 convention. Today's rules would apply to the 2012 convention. This is the way it works.

However, today, Paul people followed the rules. They had their minimum of 5 states required to nominate from the floor. The GOP changed the rules midstream to require an 8 state minium. THAT IS CHEATING. ROMNEY'S NOMINATION IS BASED ON CHEATING.

They knew Paul could take it so they cheated. Just like that. On tv. In everyone's faces. All to nominate Romney so he can lose for Obama. All rigged.

I am disgusted.
I will never, ever cast a vote for the GOP again.
This should be a national embarrassment. Republicans all over should be appalled.

We can pin the news that Romney is the nominee. How about pinning how he CHEATED to be the nominee?

*Today's rules would apply to the 2012 convention.

I meant should apply to the 2016 convention. Every convention they do the rules for the next convention. That's to assure being fair and everyone knowing the rules upfront. You don't change them during the convention to block out people. That's the purpose behind the way the rules are set up. They openly broke their own rule. A major one.

Yup. It's total bullshit.

It is a disgrace to Americans everywhere from any time period past, future and definitely present.

I'm switching party affiliation tomorrow.

Never voting again for a party that lies, cheats, steals, and when they finally don't get their way, to change the rules and cheat and still go forward with their power grab.

Total bullshit.

Libertarian Party here I come.

Re: The GOP cheated today: Romney's nomination was against the party's own rules
know what?
the gop elite don't care
they're running to lose

but, the local republican parties will care
every single person should write a letter to their local party
letting them know that the cheating of romney at the convention by the rule change midstream is cheating
and you will not be voting for a cheater
people who cheat the system are disgusting
acting like they're entitled to have what they want at the expense of those who work hard and play by the rules
BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT JUST HAPPENED

so those who bitch over entitlements, well, the mindset is right here on display for you and he's now your "candidate"

mr. entitlement
mr. draft dodging, gun grabbing, warmongering, corporations are people, god lives on kolob, anti-constitution romney

THAT'S your candidate
write the local parties
tell them if they don't speak out, all over the country, up to the state level then the national level then they will never again have your vote

the nomination should be rescinded
because he CHEATED
imo the convention should be deemed null and void
not that there aren't other reasons like detaining buses and fighting legitimate delegates for their legitimate seats

but this is open, in your face, last minute CHEATING

Of course they did. The people in power will sacrifice every last option available, us, the military, foreign troops, MSM, guns, WMD's or anything els they can get their grubby little paws on to keep their self-appointed superior status. As far as I'm concerned, they don't represent anyone but people with money bribing every morally bankrupt sellout they can get. I would suggest restarting the repub party for those that think there is hope. At least you know who to lock up for trespassing when they come around. For the realists, a house divided cannot stand.

I haven't but they don't win until enough get on board and toss out the 2 party system, which is just the other side of the coin.

I assume Romney must be legally allowed to do what he has done, if not, then a "party action suit" needs to be filed. Not sure who would rep all.

If it is illegal, or even just underhanded, sure tells alot of what you could expect if he was your next prez.

you realize this is not over.
people above our government are showing their control now.
if i give up we can all give up.
i am not a Paul tard...as you say.

they....both the RNC and the DNC are breaking rule now.

breaking rules to change the rules...so right now at this moment the cards fell in your favor they will not stay this way!

you need to see the bigger picture.
today live on national TV the RNC committed voter fraud.

the denied delegates from state representing votes from entering.

so these delegates were on the other side...this is OK. so now with the rules able to change on a whim...just maybe the next time things will not go in your favor.
