..I hope people took this thing seriously. I saw some people playing it off on here the other day. I hope that wasn't the general attitude. This brought a lot of water and high tide is coming back soon.

Time will tell whether it to make the storm worse or help "steer it" or slow it down etc, but they are out in full force this morning.

The storms in the bands are flaring up again since the sun has come out. It doesn't look good! When storms like this just sit for 24-36 hours that's when the dams can start breaking. This dam breaking doesn't surprise me at all. One broke in Central Florida after a tropical storm was over us for about 36 hours.

Did St John's Parish flood? Does anyone know? They were evacuating people last night out of that parish but I haven't heard it is actually flooded or not.

Re: BREAKING: Levee Overtopped in New Orleans Area - Evacs Underway!! Winds over 100mph!!
This is what happens when you build a city under sea level. The area was very lucky it could have been so much worst if this storm was a major hurricane.

The marsh lands have been taken away year by year. These marsh lands are the protection for coastal areas. It's just like the coastline of all hurricane prone areas. They build all along the barrier islands tall high rises that take away the protection of all.

With NOLA it's a major disaster everytime they get hit by a storm. It's like knowing you have a problem but never fixing the problem. You repeat the same thing over and over again looking for different results. That is called insanity but it always makes good news.

It took nature 6000 years to build the Louisiana coast but it took man 75 years to destroy it.

This storm reminds me a lot of Hurricane Charley. We had lots of trees down in the roads. Some streets had many trees down, took weeks to cut them all up and get electriity back on for some people. We lost electricity because so many trees were down. There were streets you had to zig zag down through the trees.
