His house sits up pretty high, but outside it's almost waist-deep in places already... they're hauling-ass now & will move to another part of the State once this is over. I am a Christian. Louisiana State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson said a National Guard flight over the dam shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday showed it was still holding. Mississippi officials confirmed the dam was secure. Louisiana state troopers and National Guard troops were heading to the state line to be ready if the situation changes. "It's speculation, but we have to at least prepare for it," Edmonson said. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn says prisoners are sandbagging an area where part of the dam's base has slid away. He says there are no breaks, no water is coming through and he's been told officials at the scene don't think there's any immediate danger of breaking.... People here started suing the corps of engineers because they let the floodgates open on the Cumberland and it flooded half of Nashville. Hope he doesn't have a mortgage- I'd try to sell the house immediately. He'll have tons of competition quick if he's in a neighborhood. According to WWL, officials ordered the mandatory evacuation at 10:10 a.m. CT for up to 60,000 people along the river from Kentwood through Robert, LA. McComb, MS, Mayor Whitney Rawlings said there was a 50/50 chance the dam would fail. Pike County emergency management declared the dam at Lake Tangipahoa, better known as Percy Quin State Park, damaged but "intact," according to the agency's Facebook page. EMA officials are monitoring the situation, they stated. WAFB reported the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of Pike County in southern Mississippi after emergency management officials determined the dam would probably fail.The flooding expected to cause the breach came from Tropical Storm Isaac. Officials in Tangipahoa had initially warned a breach could be imminent, according to CNN. A National Guard helicopter has been maintaining position over the dam. Seems really amazing that the UN wants everyone on the coast near Louisiana and MS to move out and i think we pledged a billion dollars if i recall to the relocation plan...and now these hurricanes are forcing everyone out, and many will move away im sure being tired of it. |

Do we do a damage amount and once that is reached, say all have to relocate someplace else or pick up your own tab? It is an idea. Where I live, I will not get hit by a tornado, earthquake, flood, hurricane, no natural disaster that will take anyone elses tax dollars to fix. |
