For some reason when I read your comment, the first thought that came to me was "is this a gov't op stirrin the pot to distract us from this topic?".

For the last few pages it seems that there has been a concerted effort to derail this thread.

The Guard saved a lot of lives during this storm. So did deputies from other parishes and individuals (neighbors) who risked their lives to help one another.

People from LA, MI, and AL are special people when it comes to takin care of each other.

Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

Re: BREAKING: Dam Failure Imminent due to Isaac Flooding
60,000 people ordered to evacuate IMMEDIATELY after dam threatens to burst along Mississippi-Louisiana border as Isaac rages north.

- Warning issued in Tangipahoa Parish in Mississippi as water continues to rise
-One man in Picayne, Mississippi killed after tree fell on his truck in strong winds and heavy rain
-903,000 homes and businesses throughout Louisiana have no power; could be out for a week
-Father Jesse Shaffer and his son - also named Jesse - saved up to 120 neighbours in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana as they patrolled their town in fishing boats

-Town was hardest hit by Isaac after levee was topped by water on Wednesday morning
-Relief in New Orleans on seventh anniversary of Katrina as destruction is confined to felled trees and damaged roofs

But storm is expected to become a tropical depression by tonight with winds of below 39 mph
Isaac continues to lumber north and is expected to move across Arkansas and into Missouri on Friday

I stopped watching when he said he's going home. I don't really want to see the dam break anyway whether intentional or if it breaks.

So it looks to me like the improvements since Katrina were designed to save downtown NO at the expense of the communities around it. Probably wrong, but on the surface, based on what I have been able to glean so far from the disjointed news coverage, it appears that way.

Mary Landrieu was sharin yesterday on WWL New Orleans, how she had been trying to get funds for Plaquemines - Grand Isle and how no one was listening to her.

I also shared with my partner - we recently moved from NOLA - how the improvements for NOLA held up well, seemingly at the expense of the rest of LA. Or, because NOLA's improvements held up so well - we are seeing where work needs to be done in the rest of LA.

Ironically, I heard that the water around the damn in Tangipahoa was to be drained on Monday (Labor Day) to work on the damn - WWLTV broadcast earlier today. (I did not record this - so no link).

Well spotted observation.

Why the fuck is this not running constantly on the major networks ?

I demand Anderson Cooper, wearing a PFD, in a boat piloted by a hot redneck from the Cajun Navy, running live segments interspersed with CNN's much loved doom music.

I don't want to seem morbid... but...

There seems to be a 'COVER UP' of how many people have died.

I'm seeing with my own eyes... houses and towns completely (and partially) underwater.

Alot of people STUPIDLY did not evacuate these areas.

I find it hard to believe there is not a large death toll.

Especially when you include all the downed trees and powerlines as well.

There seems to be a media blackout of these facts.

Same thing happened with Katrina. Bodies floating and the majority of the world didn't know and didn't care.
