Anonymous Coward User ID: 17591720 Canada 08/30/2012 06:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm about to turn my power off forever. I have a smart meter but they are no smart yet. They were installed but not plugged into the grid yet. They need 50% of them installed before they go smart. Also they use a router on the phone lines to read them. Routers can get damaged really easy. They are going to have alot of issue's with the routers coming up from all sorts of damage as they are exposed to the elements. Trees, branches, wind, water. I always loose my power in the winter due to storms. So I'm taking measures to live off the grid once and for all. Almost ready. |

I came home from to find two guys removing the old one and placing the smart reader. Quoting: CrazyMama73 I can honestly say, whether it is a coincedance or not, I get ringing in my ears now as well as headaches. I never had either issue before. I worry about what it will do to my children. I was told by the power company that they are staying. they haven't reached our area yet. Maybe next year. According to the local monopoly one can choose to not have one. It costs more to decline they say. Maybe this will encourage more people to go off the grid. |

Wi-Fi Radar Can See Humans Through Walls Scientists in England can now see through walls—kind of. Researchers have created a luggage-sized device that can detect human activity behind a one-foot thick brick wall based on Wi-Fi signal frequencies that ricochet as people move around. According to Popular Science, the "passive radar system" works much the same as regular radar does and is able to accurately detect the speed, location and direction of a person as they move about. However, if you stay still, you'll stay invisible, because the system works by measuring Wi-Fi strength and frequency changes. While the device has the potential for peaceful, civilian applications such as monitoring children or home protection, CNET reports the military has already taken an interest in the technology as a potential tool in urban warfare. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22899251 I don't have wifi. Moved the microwave out of the house. getting off the grid. I disabled my WiFi signal at the router in favor of an Ethernet network and haven't had a microwave in years. I've never had a cellphone or a credit card in my life, or a flu shot either for that matter. My electric meter is an analog. I live in a large apartment building and each apartment has their own meter. Going off the electric grid is not an option for me, but if they do install one I'll wrap it in foil. I know what day they check the meter and will just unwrap it before they show up. |

Google was not my friend on this, I can't figure it out, I want the kind that you just push a button and it starts. Quoting: WindyMind Ha ha ha . Not that simple. better educate yourself really fast before you buy some peice of shit. Get an INVERTER Generator. There is a huge difference. Inverters you can run your electronics with. The others you can until they are damage by the generator. They surge. The Inverter types are twice the price. You need one big enough to run a fridge and a few small appliances at the same time otherwise what is the point. For women on there own you better dummy up and learn about them. Electric start ones are very expensive too. Pull start aren't that bad. Will always start as electric starters can break and get fried by surges and solar flares. then what good is an electric start going to do you. Generators need to be serviced all the time. You must learn to do this yourself. Some people think Premium gas is good for them but its not in alot of models. Too high octane runs too hot and will fry them. So if your storing fuel and putting booster in the fuel to extend the life of the fuel you will burn up your generator. I'm a woman and have a generator myself and take care of it myself and you can too. Just don't be helpless about it and learn it. |

Now I get live power reading of my usage and ability to save energy. My meter is 50ft from any living areas so don't worry my hair is not falling out. And might I ask how about some technical info on how these meters are spying on me? That's what I thought, you got nothing. What, they'll tap into my internet router or wireless network and capture my data? The US Gov does this already via the main data centers throughout the country, they don't need to spy on us via smart meters, there are far more effective ways and they already are using them. This is the world you guys voted in after 9-11 so deal with it. |

WindyMind (OP) User ID: 7244814 United States 08/30/2012 07:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was sheer stupidity I guess that made me tell the meter guy that I didn't want a smart meter. And then he didn't know the rules either and he acted grumpy and took it off in a way that left me unplugged. You can't beat dumb luck. On top of that with the hurricane there are clouds in the area so my house is cool enough with fans. You all need to take a half hour and watch this. They will use the data against you. Think of it as a black box in a car. It monitors everything that you do. Headaches, insomnia, nightmares, skin rashes, dizziness, ringing in ears, cramps, chest pains, loss of memory, pain in the eyes, racing heart, difficulty swallowing, burning sensations on the head and chest, irregular heart beats, sinus pain, disorientation, mental confusion, difficulty concentrating, exhaustion, stomach issues, ear aches, miscarriages, irritability, fatigue, joint pain, back pains, electric like shocks, nervousness, stomach rolling, palpitations, eczema, urinary bladder reflex, watery eyes, agitation, anxiety, vomiting, intense thirst, teeth pressure & buzzing, menstrual irregularity, weak, vertigo, pulsations in the ears, emotional distress, high blood pressure, feeling like your going to have a heart attack, tingling sensation, exhausted, flu like symptoms, loss of appetite, loss of weight, intermittent confusion, cardiovascular effects, tightness in chest, heaviness, trembling. hot flashes, impaired cognitive functioning, hyper-arousal. These are all the symptoms I NEVER had before, except tinnitus, but nowhere near as bad as the last few months. Reading is a passion of mine and I can't lay in bed and read anymore without going over the same paragraph to the point I give up.
