If you can trade roles w/ your wife that would be good. Apart from that have you seen chiropractors, back specialist etc? Can you get laid off w/ compansation and use that time to train for a job that doesn't involve your back?

If the company is letting you go because of your disability, but you can still do your job with reasonable accomadations, you got one heck of a good lawsuit you cannot lose.
If you are voluntarily leaving your job, apply for Social Security Disability. A full time Dad would actually be a cool thing. You can be there for all the special things in your kid's lives.

My husband had joint injections, surgery, and physical therapy. The surgery failed for his knee, and he needs a knee replacement. The injection in his hip lasted 2 months, but the injections for his other joints only lasted a couple of days.
Try a chiropractor. The one I go to is very good. Even though I have severe arthritus, the treatments I get at his office really have been keeping me going fairly well for several years.

Bad back means low B12, low glutathione, low SAMe, low vitamin D

Have a hair anylisis and blood panel done. Correct your deficiencies.

See a nutrionist to come up with a good eating plan you can stick with.

Quit eating trans fat and sugar.

You will see great improvements in 6 months.

I know I did.

Good luck. Nothing hurts like a bad back.

Re: I am about to lose my job because of disability...bad back..
I can relate to you a little....

4 years ago, I injured my back moving a 22 Gallon keg of beer. Since then, I've not been able to work and ending up on benefits....

I can't stand or sit in the same position longer than 10 mins or I will be in complete agony. I don't go out anymore at fear of it hurting more. My Wifey takes my son to school, gets the shopping done and does a lot of the housework, even though I do try doing some things....

I use to be a Bar Supervisor in a Public house, been doing that type of job for over 10 years. Now my back knackered, I don't know what the fuck to do. It's hard on your persona when your use to a job and then you can't go back to that line of work again....I am kind of lucky in a way, my mother passed in Feb this year and she left me and my 2 siblings a house. It is currently on the Market waiting to sell and then I should have a tidy lump sum of money to live the rest of my life on.....

Without the knowledge of me getting that money, I wouldn't of been able to survive. I am currently depressed due to my situation and while the money will ease my problems soon, it's been a rough ride the last 4 years....I have lost a lot of weight due to not eating, this is because being on benefits, your only limited to what you can buy food wise after you pay your bills...There were times when we didn't have a lot of food so I starved myself so my son could eat. I am constantly up till 4am in the morning because I want to get myself that tired, that I won't wake up during night with my back aching....

My advice to you, If the pain is bearable, stay in your Job..If you lose or give up your Job then your back will feel like it is worse. I carried on working for about 3 months after I injured it. It just felt like a twinge in my back, it was bearable so I was able to carry on....I only left the Pub due to it closing....About a week after closing, my back started getting worse. I think was due to the fact that I hadn't in a week been using muscles that I would of been using if I was still working. It was like my whole back stiffened and got worse...

Physio didn't help me at all, also had a MRI scan that confirmed I had Degenerative disc disease. On the results it said that a number of my discs were impinging on the Cal sac and I had dehydration in one of the discs...A couple of slipped discs thrown in too....

It all can be a nightmare and sometimes doctors don't take you seriously. OP, if you lose your job, keep active the best you can because if you stop, your back will stiffen more...

Keep active. If you have family and you start to feel down or depressed, you may start taking out on your friends and family, Try to avoid this, but if you can't, just talk to your doctor....

I got a bit violent after finishing my job as my back got worse and family life stressed me out, even the slightest thing would set me off. I use to argue with my Wifey loads and punch doors. I ended up moving out after I seen my then 3 year old son crying after punching a door. The time away did me good in way that I had peace, however, after of 2 years of being away, I couldn't cope with everything on my own so moved back in with my family. I am a lot calmer now and since moving back in last year, me and the Wifey haven't argued.

When you have back problems, it's a long way to happiness again in you get into a depressed, angry and recluse state. Try and stay active, thus will lesson your back getting stiffer or more sore. If you start to see your Persona change, get help ASAP....Talking to nobody will have a big effect on you and your family/friends lives...Don't end up like me....You will start hating yourself if you end up stressed and taking it out on them...

There are many out there in the same situation OP, you just got to try and get on with things the best you can. STAY POSITIVE, don't let depression kick in....

I hope this helps....

Take care...

I am certain they have consulted their lawyers on this one.
If you are on FMLA, they will NOT fire you immediately after your FMLA is completed. This would be too damning for them; too obvious to a judge and jury. Get my drift?

They will wait at least 6 months after your FMLA is completed to fire you ; if they are smart; or else you do have a good lawsuit case.

I had a friend who had breast cancer and was on FMLA ; they fired her 6 months after her return to work.

SHe consulted as lawyer and they told her she had no case because it would have been difficult for her to prove due to the passage of time.

Been there done that..It helped for a while, but not now.

I have 30 days to rest and try to improve my situation, however after that I am committed and have to be out longer than 60 days to be eligible for long term disability.

I really hope it does not come to that. But even if I do return to work, I am considered "damaged goods" and they will try to eventually get rid of me. Its a catch 22!!!

Thanks though. The only light could be that I am a stay at home daddy. but again, If I cannot work, how am I going to take care of my daughter.??

After two years of excrutiating back pain, I had to quit my job. I tried everything...spinal injections, physical therapy, etc. I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes, and my job was standing, walking, bending, lifting. The company doctor wanted to perform surgery, but my second opinion, a university ortho surgeon, said not yet. He sent me to a "pain clinic." They did the spinal injections and gave me hydrocodone, which messes with the mind. Nothing worked.

I applied for disability only once, but was refused. I didn't pursue it even though the guy at the Social Security office told me to apply again.

I suffered the same horrible pain for exactly two more years, taking "Move Free" tablets every-so-often. Two years later, I started taking it every single day, and within three months, I was pain free. It was either a coincidence, or the Glucosamine/ Chondroitin/Hyaluronic Acid worked!

while you still have the PAY CHECK from your current job,

scramble to find a cheap / legit work at home computer type thing.

Then, you could set your own hours, and not work when you dont feel well.

My dad suffered with back pain for 40+ years. Chiropractor made it worse. Doctors suggested surgery and painkillers. One doctor said surgery was risky and could paralyze him.

Recently a doctor suggested an infrared sauna. My dad used an infrared sauna twice, two 30 minute sessions.

No more back pain!!!!

The infrared heat promotes circulation which somehow takes away the pain.

Wow...good to know!

My son-in-law's brother...in his 40's, had back surgery, and it paralized him, and he had the best surgeons at Johns Hopkins! He almost died after getting pneumonia a year later. That's why I did not want surgery.

He eventually had to have a second surgery to correct the first. It took years of therapy, walking with a walker, etc., and he walks with a cane today.
