It's not a red star.
It's a gold star.
it's to honor veterans who they personally know who have died in the service of the Constitution.
It's a slap against the Obama administration and the banking elite (Soros) who use communist/socialist dupes (Van Jones) and Occutards (dupes as well) for their own purposes.
