Hurricane Isaac Simultaneously Hyped & Downplayed, Now Ignored by MSM
Take a look at Hurricane Issac. For nearly a week on end, the headline news was "Tropical Storm Isaac" and "Brace for Isaac"..

"Will it hit? Will it go Hurricane status? Where will it hit? Will it grow? Will it be bad?"

This storm was so heavily hyped, that everyone's eyes were glued to it. Somehow, as the media played the story for all it was worth in fear, they simultaneously assured that it wouldn't be a bad storm, category 1 at worst, weak.

The news showed people prepping, interviewing locals, fire officials, experts, etc.. Every single news source hyped the shit out of the storm. They acted as if we should fear Isaac.

BUT.. when the storm actually hit Louisiana, they showed practically NO local coverage, had ZERO reporters on site, and ALWAYS threw the LOWEST numbers in regards to sustained winds, gusts, and rainfall. Then, once the storm passed Baton Rouge, they acted as if it was no longer.

12 to 18 feet of water in Plaquemines Parish, levees overflowing, houses and businesses completely underwater and they showed NOTHING.

And NOW, whatever they ARE showing is areas with 3 feet of water. Or maybe a few quick clips of some national guard saving a fucking golden retriever with a boat.

What about the people whose homes were completely wiped out? What about the leaking oil and gas? Where is FEMA? Who is helping these people? Why the FUCK is this not top news? What is the death toll? Damage estimates??? Anything?

This is so right. The Zero apostles (Democrats and MSM) would have been much happier if a thousand people had died because then they could be seen as caring and helping. So far I have heard the death toll is six, and that is much less than the number of people murdered in Chicago over last weekend.

As far as FEMA, they are a joke. There is no coverage (except for Shepard Smith going ballistic) so there is no FEMA.

It all boils down to the Bush did it syndrome. Zero could not do more for these people than Bush did for NO, because there are so far fewer to help, so why bother.

It has been announced that Governor Romney is going to the hard hit are of Louisiana while Zero is going to Texas to raise money. That alone tells you what their priorities are, compassion or money.

Additionally we have dozens of wildfires out west, a major drought and the Mississippi River is drying up. Obviously, arguing personal opinions over the soap opera we call "politics" takes center stage.

It just seems so odd to hype hype hype the story and then not cover the aftermath. Especially considering the damage done in certain areas.

The Assumtion Parish blog, contains ZERO information about how hard the sinkhole area was hit, if there's standing water, or anything of the sort.

The RNC balloon drop got more coverage yesterday. Heres something I guarantee you will not hear on MSM coverage. Several of the area that got hit hard are surrounding NOLA and have never flooded the way they did. Many folks down there are at least asking if the new pump and levee system for NOLA forced water into those areas.

Of course it is ignored now.

August 29th is over already.

The "hype" was all about August 29th, the 7th aniversary of the Katrina disaster, and the open ceremony of the London Paralympics.

Maybe those cause all this hype and coverage to put fear in the minds of the masses. Worrying about a hurricane puts one in a more negative mindset, anxious, worries, fear, hope. While people are worrying about a hurricane there could be something else being done behind the scenes, since the elite feed off fear.

One of the most irritating aspects of TV reporting is the collage of 2 and 3 second clips all randomly thrown together.

Here we have 24 hour news channels and they can't focus a camera on any one thing for more than that. Then you are assured of seeing thse same stupid tell nothing about a situation clips over and over instead of adding anything new and pertinent to the story.

The only time they can steady a camera and hold it in one scene for any length of time is if it is pointing at one talking head or other.

It's sickening.

We need someone to start up an alternative channel that does real reporting.
TWC gets it wrong constantly.
Are they unable to give as reliable a forecast today as they could 30 and 40 years ago?

Every day they project a path, the storm goes in the opposite direction. Thanks, TWC.

TWC had reporters in the same location, practically every time they were on. I didn't understand that.. you have so much going on, but yet you choose to sit in an area that's shielded from all the goings-on, instead of saying, "Hey, it's not AS bad here as it is in other areas... let's go see if we can get a little closer at a safe distance from REAL coverage and get the story out to folks".

The storm strength, damage, stories.. were all kept from people (as you said), and is still going on.. but honestly, do you expect ANY less from MSM?

I'm checking in once again from New Orleans.

They aren't showing it on the news because it's labor day weekend and they want tourists to still come to new orleans.

did you know that this weekend is also southern decadance in the french quarter (huge gay and lesbian festival.)

my house hasn't had power since Tuesday at 7pm. it's now Friday at 10:30 am.

My mom's flight at 10am this morning out of MSY (nola airport) was canceled, she's on standby for the noon flight.

I picked up 15 trash bags of leaves and limbs out of the yard.

almost all of my edible plants survived - chilis, green peppers, jalapenos, clementine and satsuma trees, cucumbers, basil, and whatnot, but some of our decorative landscaping is fucked.

the power has been out so long some of our cichlids are dying in the tank without filtration

it's fucking hot today.

AND, I have to go to work tonight.
