Abbas calls for unity with Hamas over Gaza operation

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday called for unity among rival Palestinian factions in light of Operation Pillar of Defense, but noted he has not been able to get in touch with Hamas leaders in Gaza.

Describing the Israeli military operation as an attack on all Palestinians and not only Hamas, Abbas said now is the time for Palestinian reconciliation.




Abbas thinks this is the time to re-unite, but he does not wish to suffer the same fate as Hamas in Gaza, however, the Hamas faction in West Bank may wish to suffer the same fate.

It certainly looks as if this is quickly headed to a worst case scenario.

Add in the oil rig explosion/fire in the gulf of Mexico and the lowlifes talking about riots if the EBT system isn't back up soon and the home-front situation is looking worse as well.

Reports are from residents; I've seen fireworks from Arabs to worst case scenario as explanation, no more info yet.

They have 455,000 reservists, but 100,000 are probably not worth a damn unless needed to fill back rooms and last defense lines. The cost itself of taking in 70,000 resevists (PUBLIC - who knows the amount that is classified) out of the economy and then paying those government costs, this is big. They are holding fire on the north right now, but the US said it needed 75,000 for Syria. These are reservists, the main army and reservists - now things are getting intersting, if they ahd not already gotten that way!

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Friday said he feared the Syrian conflict could spread to neighboring countries.
