Does the Gaza crisis make Israeli strikes on Iran more likely?

As IDF continue strikes meant to weaken Hamas’s rocket-launching capabilities, more analysts are starting to wonder about the country that supplies many of those longer-range rockets: Iran... Now, some observers say that the Israel-Gaza fighting ... could make strikes on Iran more likely.

I think one of the many scenarios the Israelis have on the table is to knock down any potential threat around their borders, so that any retaliatory movement resulting from a strike on Iran will be visible to observe/ prepare for/ or preempt.

This equates to clearing the property surrounding your house so that you have a clear view of anything that moves between your home and the tree line.

I am easy tonight, staying away from the local street corners though, yes I agree with you all. First somewhere in the thick of things one can gain useful intelligence data equal to alphabet agencies by reading some GLP threads, though lacking the taps and satellites put us at a disadvantage. However we can gain insight like who is bugging out to Denver.
Next, Israel is prepping for the day of. By cleaning up the neighborhood around Gaza, Israel is gaining some safe space and limiting the problems of Gaza when the Hezbollah attack happens. Israel at least will have Gaza either under marshal law if she takes back the strip under her authority or at least keep the missiles to a low roar . There had been talk of moving the northerner in a war to the middle of the country, that is more likely if the southern missiles cannot reach that location. Next, limiting Terror is good no matter what, but it is all for an eye on the ultimate game, defeating Iran at real chess. Israel is currently on a path to take out not just pawns, but a rook and bishop. That helps when the queen will be at play with the Hezbollah.

Damn, that is a loaded question. 911 in 2001 was an inside job by Arab terrorists. We know their names where they came from, we know the planes that crashed and the victims. Under Clinton we could have stopped all of it one very almost fine day, but we failed, that created the inside job. The State Department is loaded with liberal fucks who cause inside jobs to keep happening.

This last 911 yes an inside job at the highest. They used a nice script that to this day would be a broadway play, but instead, we have the Petraeus show to keep the eye off the ball.

The Al-Aqsa Martyr Brigades, considered to be Fatah's military wing, have claimed responsibility for the Tel Aviv bomb. english.al-akhbar.com/live-event/isr…

Background - Al Aqsa Brigade is Associated With Fatah Movement

In November 2003, BBC journalists uncovered a payment by Fatah of $50,000 a month to al-Aqsa. This investigation, combined with the documents found by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), led the government of Israel to draw the conclusion that the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades have always been directly funded by Yasser Arafat. ..

On 18 December 2003, Fatah asked the leaders of the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades to join the Fatah Council, recognizing it officially as part of the Fatah organization.

Odds and Ends (But it all comes together)...

Last night there was an escalation in the tensions between Iraqi Kurdistan & Iraq....In the last couple of years, Iraqi Kurdistan has had greatly improved relations with Turkey (it always had good relations w/ US)...Iraq is now w/I Iran's sphere of influence. The current tensions may be coincidental, but I see them as a way to pin the not-so-reasonable Iraqi gov't of Nouri al Maliki down during any attack on Iran...

Thread: WTF - War In Iraqi Kurdistan?

The Washington Post reported that calm is returning to Jordan and the protests are de-escalating...This, in part, has been due to quite reasonable positions adopted by Jordan's MB (we don't want to replace the King - we just want reform) and new financial support from Egypt & the GCC...This means that Israel will have one relatively stable neighbor....

Thread: Jordan Protests - Game Changer - Moslem Brotherhood TRYING TO SAVE Jordan's King? (Page 5)

In case you haven't been following it, the Syrian rebels have created a new political structure, which was quickly recognized by Europe & they made some impressive military gains in the last week (seizing several military bases). Assad is in no position to take on Syria and a large number of Hezbollah military leaders have recently died in Syria...

I don't have a thread on Syria...(but Google news can give you background)

As many have noted on this thread, the Gaza strikes have greatly reduced Hamas's rocket stockpile & ability to strike Israel (particularly the longer range rockets)

Then, this morning, Iran admitted it has been arming Hamas...

It seems like the forces have aligned the make a strike on Iran feasible...once you have a ceasefire w/ Hamas....

Then, a female al-Fatah bomber potentially torpedoes the ceasefire....

Who made that chess move?

Over 40 Gaza tunnels were bombed today alone in Israel. There will be a limited lull in materials getting through into Gaza, but in the long run, many more tunnels will be dug and many more fishing boats launched to pick up special prized Iranian fish. The current ceasefire talks are about dead, but more talk of a truce will come. More terror bombings will come.
At least Israel could buy some time to clean the Mideast house of Iran, before seriously considering some arrangement for a lasting peace. However the best way to create a lasting peace is to have a major military defeat of the enemies.

The dangerous success of Iron Dome
You can bet that even as Hamas and its sponsors are recovering from the shock of clanging into Israel’s new missile shield, they are contemplating fresh ways to kill us. Those drafting the Pillar of Defense ceasefire terms mustn’t make it easy for them

[link to www.timesofisrael.com]

The Iron Dome is a game changer. If anything, now Hamas, Hezbollah, and their keepers, Iran, will need to develop more deadly means of attacking Israel, ie chemical and biological weapons.

It would be insane, but if there is no signed deal and Israel simply announces it will cease fire, then if additional rockets come flying, the political leaders will then feel justified to go on land into Gaza. Politics in war never works and never looks good.

It would be insane, but if there is no signed deal and Israel simply announces it will cease fire, then if additional rockets come flying, the political leaders will then feel justified to go on land into Gaza. Politics in war never works and never looks good.

VOILA!

Officials: Israel will continue to negotiate ceasefire
A security cabinet meeting on the attempts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza has concluded. State sources say Israel intends to continue the negotiations in an effort to garner international support for a future Israeli operation that is to be launched if Hamas violates the terms of the truce.
