The intent is to keep that Strait open. A timeline was given by someone, be it perhaps Obahmah was not smart enough or his empty chair was all that was present. Someone in the military planned this, maybe far enough out to allow Israel to act on its own accord with the information available. I could see military brass pointing to a calendar and letting Israeli planners know when might be an opportune time to protect itself. When might be a good tie to attack, when might be a good time to not attack.

THERE IS A LOT TRUTH IN THE ABOVE..... There is a reason why the political systems, I beleive, were set up like they were after world war 2. Let the counties have just enough weapons to defend themselves, and start up social programs that keep the "2000 years old deep rooted culture" in check. So far so good... but the DNA is still the same. They have been beating the shit out of each other for a long long time, heaven for bid if they direct that mind set against an outsider.... they won't need no stickin gun... they'll use a rock tied to a stick..

Very interesting, and it does give Obama plausible deniability with his base... "it's those damn jewish people that started it and then Iran attacked our ships and, and. and, and..."

I'd like to share one thing concerning those funny moh films and cartoons, which are my own thoughts:

The fact that those films, cartoons and interviews come out now, have one deeply underlying tendency:

Many people in the west do not believe any more, that they can win the contest of ideas, concerning liberties and way of life, with the moslims.

Thus the contest between cultures moves away from nice words towards another level: films and cartoons.

Notice, that this move is being made from artists, newspapers, writers and magazines (and periodically, since years).

The reaction to cartoons and films in the moslim world were predictable, and its effect are sinking in as a message in the broad masses, those people who do not read friedman and are not generally interested in politics.

Right or wrong is not my subject, but there is more in the works than just cartoons .... .

Just my 2 pences ... something to think about before falling asleep :-).

West warns Iran time running out for nuclear accord

The United States, Britain and France warned Iran on Thursday that time is running out for a negotiated settlement to the showdown on its nuclear program.

"Time is wasting," US ambassador Susan Rice told a UN Security Council meeting on nuclear sanctions against Iran.

The meeting was held amid mounting speculation that Israel is planning a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is to speak at the UN General Assembly of world leaders next week.

Egypt army 'moves reinforcements to Sinai'

The Egyptian army sent military reinforcements to the Sinai on Thursday, security sources said, after authorities raised the alert level in the wake of the killing of a militant leader.

Around 50 tanks and armored vehicles were deployed to the eastern bank of the Suez canal for regular training, and to the northern Sinai city El-Arish for anti-terror operations, security sources said.

On Wednesday, Egyptian intelligence warned that "unprecedented attacks" were planned by jihadist groups against security headquarters in north Sinai over the next 48 hours, a security officer told Ma'an.

don't get me wrong, not happy about it in anyway, hopefully those that have forced this to happen will be held to account. There is a kind of peace in sort of knowing what's coming even though you can't do anything about it really. Then again I was never one for surprises

I think Stennis was pretty close to being in Hormuz. That I'm aware of there is no carrier group in the med as we speak, I think some we do have ships there though just not carriers
