Government artillery booms out from the Qassioun mountain that looms over Damascus – proof to all, if it were needed, that the regime is prepared to turn parts of the country to rubble to survive. . . . While significant parts of Damascus still feel peaceful and ordered, with malls offering expensive clothes and coffee to dwindling clienteles, other areas tell a story of ever-expanding destruction. Cars draw a low, spooky hum from highways gouged by tank tracks. . . Middle East: A second winter of war - FT.com - Analysis [link to on.ft.com] |

Quoting: DarbyDoom Here is an Op/Ed discussing the report - What’s in a war with Iran? [link to www.washingtonpost.com] Here's an excerpt - .... Iran is likely to retaliate directly but also to pursue an asymmetrical response, including heightened terrorist activity and covert operations as well as using surrogates such as Hezbollah. An increase in the price of oil could keep the market unstable for weeks or months and disrupt the global economy. The conflict could also escalate into a regional war involving Syria, Hezbollah, the Palestinians and other Arab states and terrorist groups. That's what I think, too. As soon you bomb Fordo you are in a major regional war and in economic disruption. So think big, don't just bomb Fordo, but topple the mullahs, reduce their military capabilities to zero, and destroy their infrastructure, ah yes don't forget the nuke sites while at it. Since there will be a regional war, get rid of Assad, Hisbollah, those Sinai al quaidas and hamas at the same time. Just use this occasion to clean up the ME from all those flag burning islamists, just bomb the shit out of this place. |
