I noticed that Islamic Jihad is a party to the truce talks in Egypt....

That led me to ask, what the hell is Islamic Jihad? if you also had the question, here's some background - (excerpted from Wikipedia)

In 1979, after being inspired by the Iranian Revolution, Fathi Shaqaqi and Abd al-Aziz Awda founded the group to fight for the sovereignty of Palestine. Shaqaqi and Awda conducted operations out of Egypt until 1981, then continued its work in Gaza until it was exiled to Lebanon in 1987. While in Lebanon, the group was able to receive support from Hezbollah and ultimately developed a close relationship with the Lebanese organization. In 1989, the PIJ moved to Damascus, where it had remained until July 2012, when it relocated its headquarters to Iran.

The group is has offices in Damascus, Beirut, Tehran and Khartoum. It's financial backing is believed to come from Syria and Iran... The PIJ has approximately 50 members as well as recruiting chemical engineers and volunteers.

In other words, looks like Egypt invited Iran to take part in the truce talks...NOT GOOD

LOLLLLLLOLLLL I wish I read that before I went on my rant. Good find, Darby, good fine!

Samson Option? I wonder if there is like a 1/4 Samson option? LOL.. If these asswipes keep this up, I'll bet we will find out.

Samson Option

Retaliation strategy

Some have written about the "Samson Option" as a retaliation strategy.

In 2002, the Los Angeles Times published an opinion piece by Louisiana State University professor David Perlmutter which has been seen as justifying a Samson Option approach.[20]
He wrote:
"Israel has been building nuclear weapons for 30 years. The Jews understand what passive and powerless acceptance of doom has meant for them in the past, and they have ensured against it. Masada was not an example to follow—it hurt the Romans not a whit, but Samson in Gaza? What would serve the Jew-hating world better in repayment for thousands of years of massacres but a Nuclear Winter. Or invite all those tut-tutting European statesmen and peace activists to join us in the ovens? For the first time in history, a people facing extermination while the world either cackles or looks away—unlike the Armenians, Tibetans, World War II European Jews or Rwandans—have the power to destroy the world. The ultimate justice?"[21]

In 2003, Martin van Creveld thought that the Al-Aqsa Intifada then in progress threatened Israel's existence.[22] Van Creveld was quoted in David Hirst's "The Gun and the Olive Branch" (2003) as saying:

"We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.[23]

Ron Rosenbaum writes in his 2012 book How the End Begins: The Road to a Nuclear World War III that in the "aftermath of a second Holocaust":

Israel's surviving Dolphin-class nuclear missile submarines would retaliate not only against Israel's attackers, but "bring down the pillars of the world (attack Moscow and European capitals for instance)" as well as the "holy places of Islam." He writes that "abandonment of proportionality is the essence" of the Samson Option.[24]

First, it the fear of.

Second, Does it matter?

Third, do you doubt it?

We hire people at this point to do our heavy lifting. It's extremely important that we control the ME. Not the Russians. Not China. Why? Because it's all about oil. If we control the oil production we control it all. Now the Russians don't like that. And I sure China loves the idea. So, they make trouble, we make trouble - Iran makes trouble and [Doom On] we little people and the sons and daughters of little people pay a huge price. [DoomOff]

But, the good news, interestingly enough, is that the US may have the opportunity to tell the world "Hasta la vista, baby" - and walk away. Why, we have our own oil on private land not controlled by government and we may become the number one oil producing country in the world... We may be able to go back to our roots and let the rest of the world beat the shit out of themselves..... It's not going to happen, but I slipped into my DisneyLand "It a small world" (I'd youtube the song but I don't want to be hated) dream where everyone loves everyone and and and....

Let me sum up, it's not going to end well. Why?, Trillions and trillions of dollars need to be wiped of the balance sheets of all the countries in the world. And what is a better way to do that? Hint: non nuclear war or maybe a little nuke, but basically WAR!! To quote an old TV show: "We can rebuild him we have the technology"

Do you think THEY care about you and me? If you do believe that - my advice is your best off taking care of yourself

This just hit my twitter timeline...

Israeli and Palestinian negotiators appeared Monday to be homing in on an agreement on a cease-fire that would end Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have killed 101 Palestinians in the past six days, and head off what analysts had expected would be a far bloodier incursion by Israeli ground forces.

Israeli leaders were meeting late into the night to decide their next move, but Israeli soldiers in Erez said they had received orders to stand down from the high alert that had them poised Sunday to storm across the border...

Palestinian negotiators agreed that progress had been made in talks in Cairo, where Egyptian officials were shuttling between the two sides, whose representatives, according to those familiar with the talks, refused to meet one another face to face.

Khaled Meshaal, the exiled leader of Hamas, the Islamist group that rules the coastal strip, told a news conference in Cairo that the Hamas-led government would resist any Israeli invasion and that the Israeli bombing campaign had not seriously damaged Palestinian morale or infrastructure. But between statements of defiance, he also said his side was open to a cease-fire agreement – if it included a lifting of Israel’s blockade, which has left Gaza residents unable to travel freely outside the strip and severely limited their ability to import badly needed equipment and materials....

Time wasting? Hmmm, still got the tunnels. Is it reload time, is it for real? Or, as I fear, the calm before the storm. Calling up 75,000 is a mighty strong statement. Hmm, does hamas wait to fight another day? Rumor has it, that hamas has guided missiles that can hit Israels nuke plant. (We have all read the thread) Iron Dome can be overwhelmed. So the question may be: Has Israel destroyed these make believe guided missiles? If yes, they sign, if no - invasion?

Now This...

The Israeli cabinet has been meeting to discuss an Egyptian ceasefire proposal.

The content of the Egyptian plan is not known, but both Israel and Hamas have presented conditions.

Israel's include no hostile fire of any kind from Gaza and international efforts to prevent Hamas from rearming, while Hamas is demanding an end to the blockade on Gaza and "Israel's assassinations".

Egypt has been leading efforts to broker a peace deal, with both senior Israeli and Hamas officials in Cairo for talks. An Egyptian official said he hoped to be able to make an announcement on Monday or Tuesday.

it's already Tuesday in Middle East...

Haaretz Article...Cease Fire Deal Close...

Tuesday's talks in Cairo are expected to be decisive. The Israeli delegates to the talks, which are being led by Egyptian intelligence chief Gen. Raafat Shehata, plan to return there on Tuesday to present Israel's response to demands being made by Hamas.

Senior Egyptian officials told Haaretz that the sides are very close, but that some more flexibility is needed from the Israeli side.

The forum of nine senior ministers convened late last night in Jerusalem to be briefed on the negotiations with Egypt.

How Rockets Got to Gaza...

When Israel assassinated the top Hamas military commander in Gaza [Ahmed Jabari] on Wednesday... it was aiming not just at a Palestinian leader but at a supply line of rockets from Iran that have for the first time given Hamas the ability to strike as far as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem...

Hamas had perhaps 100 of them until the Israeli attacks last week, which appear to have destroyed most of the stockpile. The rockets are assembled locally after being shipped from Iran to Sudan, trucked across the desert through Egypt, broken down into parts and moved through Sinai tunnels into Gaza, according to senior Israeli security officials....

All through that time, IDF intelligence analyzed the data collected and charted the map of rocket deployment, detailing the exact location of each one, its type, where it was pointed and the nature of its immediate surroundings.... Just a few minutes following the targeting and killing of Jabari, the second wave of air strikes was already underway and within a quarter of an hour, virtually the entire lineup of Fajr-5 rockets was eliminated.

All of this likely explain why weapons factories in Sudan are being blown up and, apparently, why the certain intelligence agencies are troubling themselves enough to pull off risky hits on Hamas weapon-makers in Dubai hotels...

Obviously the objective should be to rid Gaza of terror groups and their missiles. Interesting that the same game plan as last time is happening again, run behind the Arab nations (Hamas) and beg for protection. A cease fire has been in the works all along. As stated earlier, the true plan of Bibi is to reduce the missile sock, keep the reserves around, keep casualties to a minimum and then have less of a threat from the south when the Iranian conflict ripens this spring. I hope I am wrong, but it looks like this could be the shape of this event. If I am wrong, we will make a conflagration in the next day and then who knows what will happen. The us coming with ships to evacuate is really demonstrating the US lack of confidence in Israel.

For what its worth, I don't think there will be a ground invasion. I think the IDF will take out as many sites as they can. If they go into Gaza they will have to occupy it completely, leaving themselves in a very bad place defense wise. Occupy or level it. Neither is a good option.

If we take this at face value, then it's time to call their bluff. The longer we wait to turn that wretched hive of scum and villainy into an expanding cloud of monatomic plasma, the worse the retaliatory stroke will be when we finally get around to it.

If we don't take it at face value, that particular patch of land makes a nice buffer between China and Europe, and between Russia and Africa. The mad dog illusion provides a mask for doing some crazy shit and blaming it on the religious nutters.

The Israel army distributed leafelets throughout Gaza City warning residents to evacuate 'immediately' ahead of a possible air strike.

Israel may in fact go for the throat for a few hours and then remove troops as the cease fire takes hold.

That was the pattern in the Lebanon-Hezbollah 2006 war. Israel did not send in the full invasion force until a couple days before the cease fire was declared. The difference here is that if the IDF goes in big into Gaza it will be a lot more difficult to disengage (compared to Lebanon) due to the density of the population.

True, unless they avoid Gaza city and stay in rural fields, but still make a point. They only have a few hours if they are to permit this faux cease fire to continue.

IAEA: Iran nuclear work at constant pace despite sanctions
Iran is enriching uranium at a constant pace and international sanctions aimed at making Tehran suspend the activity are having no visible impact, the UN nuclear watchdog chief said in unusually blunt remarks on Tuesday.

The point made by Yukiya Amano, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, reinforced the view of many analysts that increased Western economic pressure on Iran has failed to make it change its nuclear course.

He spoke a day before senior officials from six world powers were to meet in Brussels to weigh strategy towards Iran amid signs of a renewed push to resolve the dispute diplomatically after US President Barack Obama's re-election.

Asked whether sanctions had produced any deterrent effect, Amano told reporters in Paris: "We are verifying the activities at the nuclear sites in Iran and we do not see any effect. They are, for example, producing enriched uranium up to 5 percent and 20 percent with a quite constant pace."
