Their website is very interesting. Their values seem to be very traditional and appealing. Still don't have Mr. Romney pegged but his Mormon faith seems fine even an asset.

first any belief system is a cult. Even yours.
The bottom line is that christianity is a group of cults based on the teachings of one man who preached respect, introspection and individual responsibility.
The various cults have been suberted over time by royals and charlatans, but the basic doctrine remains available, but often ignored by a pseudotheocracy of bureacrats seeking income and authority.

of course, evaluating any of the christian cults cannot exist in a vacuum, so other cults of tribal gods with specific theocratic goals in the doctrine seem to be ignored.
Of course, a religion which states they are entitled to rule others, cannot help but imperialize, or at least when in the minority, exploit and subvert their hosts.

The lds doctrine is not much different that other christian doctrine at its base. Whether the top players are believers or exploiters remains a topic of discussion and many accusations get tossed about.

In the end, all religions are cults, even atheism, where the practitioner deems himself as their own persona god.
Theocracies intend to rule by design and proclaimation. Christianity of whatever stripe cannot be made into a proper theocracy, at least not if the very words and teachings of the originator are taken into consideration.

To summarize, mormons, like others that actually try to practice the faith based on the source material, focus inwardly, while the mojority of other religions, intending to create and maintain worldly entitlements, seek profitable conquest.

of course, you'll doubtless bring up historical tales where kings queens and charlatans compelled ignorant serfs to do their bidding, claiming it was gods will, but none of that can be placed and the feet of the originator, and the truth of it is that it's an intentional perversion of the faith to create a theocracy where there are no other methods by which to justify one.

That right there is some piss poor research. Perhaps you should consider seeking an opposing viewpoint to balance off all the propaganda you exposed yourself to by visiting their own fucking website as a primary source.

if you read the book of mormon, it reads like a fairy story, of secrets and mysteries and lost tribes.

Like most any other faiths, there is no proof of any of it, the higher officers tend to have a posh outcome compared to the low level followers.

my own opinion is that lds was the scientology of it's day, albeit one with a generally peaceful source material intended to allow the creators access to much strange, and control the lives and money of others by glomming onto a passive faith and taking it over to some degree for their own purposes.

If you chose to believe in a belief system, it would seem to be best to stick as close to the source material and avoid chasing down a rabbit hole of derivative interpretations prone to self deception.

In the end articles of faith, magic underwhere, or chosen to rule, or rule forever or back from the dead, all sound like folly to a nonbeliever, so, when you pass judgment on others, you open yourself up for comparison and contrast too

I suggest you live in Utah for a few months to see how mormons tick. No better place than their mecca right? See how they list "visitors welcome" on all their ward buildings, but those who are out of the cult who try to visit are immediately isolated/questioned and asked to leave.

Work for the State of Utah and see how far you go if you do not have a good mission story. Can you say shunned?

Talk with your mormon neighbors openly about things? Not if you are not in the cult. Can you say shunned?

Stare in their blank eyes and watch the pinwheels of programming spin oh so rapidly.

If you are an elitist with an agenda to enslave your underlings, mormons are there for you to do as you say.

Do you want freedom, respect, dignity and truth for all? Then stay far away from Utah and the one true "so called" church.

Romney elected? God save us all.

Re: In an attempt to understand Mitt, would a Mormon like to explain what makes a Mormon tick?
Very few have a glimpse of the ultimate truth concerning this. I could tell you, and spit in the wind, but few yet listen. Joseph Smith claimed visitation from an angel who claimed Jesus visited America. There is many strange reference throughout history supporting this. He claimed an angel gave him these records.

Now is where it get's weird. His church grew at a rapid rate to the point it threatened the American establishment. He was run out of many places by the local establishment. It came to the head in Navouu. There he became embroiled in a battle over polygamy. He did not support it or act in any part of it. History is wrong on this point. He was killed for writing against it.

He was killed giving the masonic distress signal. Think about that. Would he not give this sign if it where not masons in sight?

Then Brigham Young took a large part of the church west. Some stayed and reorganized around Emma Smith, and Joseph's son.

Those who went west become what most know as Mormons. It is then we begin to see the strong masonic influence in this branch of the church.

So who stole the Mormon church, and whose church is it really?

Think about it carefully.

Thing is most don't care and most don't believe in real truth. So what really is history?

Years later as an adult, I let this sister know I was a Christian, and she said I would be excommunicated from the Mormon Church. Oh well! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How would Mitts convictions effect you?

Not sure, we do not force our views on anyone. If you want to know about us we work hard to not cover or hid our light...(our testimony) We are so serious about sharing what we know we go on Missions that we pay for ourselves. But this is our creed..

Article of Faith.

The Articles of Faith
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel
and administer in the ordinances thereof.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the
Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the
dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

every group or cult has a narcissist that clawed to the top to profit from it by any means necessary. It doesnt necessarily impeach the basic doctrine of the founder.
Just so there is no mistake, the founder of christianity is christ, not some pope bishop preacher or monarch.
There is no more proof he lived and died as written, than that alternative history any of you may beleive.

The whole concern over religion is pointless when there is no discussion of oblablahs beliefs and concordance with the founder and his activities and personal example.

Do Dodger fans try and convert others? Yes, you bet they do? Do users of Android products try to convert others? Yes, you bet they do.

We all try to convert others to think the way we do because we all think we're right. However, have you ever met any of the above people who say "fine, you don't believe the way I do voluntarily? Then I am going to force you to believe the way I do." No. No beheadings. No gun point conversions. Just persuasion.

You see it all the time. Mormons let others believe what they will even when the disagree.

I have a belief system. I believe in a higher power. But I refuse to associate with any organized religion. I believe they are all interpretations of the same higher power but none of them have it right. I don't need to be told how to live my life. So I take issue with your statement that having a belief system makes you a cult member. It does not. Having a belief system has NOTHING to do with belonging to a group and being called a liar. Now go fuck yourself and try not to choke on your rules and codes in the process. Asstard.

It wasnt the hindus
It wasnt the buddists
It wasnt the catholics
It wasnt the atheists

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the
dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

...and this sounds good on paper but I'll believe it when I see it.

Um, you do see it. Do Mormons try and convert others? Yes, you bet they do. Do Repubs try to convert others? Yes, you bet they do? Do democrats try to convert others? Yes, you bet they do.

I meant, if Mitt gets into office, I'll believe it when his policies reflect it.
