Because atheism, like all religions, is merely a belief system. One in the same in many ways.

Atheists usually believe in evolution which is another subject studied in universities. Would you call Literature 101 a religion? How about Spanish or French? Are those subjects RELIGIONS??? Atheists don't believe in deities? How could that even remotely be considered to be a religion. Are you 12? If you told me you played football, I would call you a fucking football player. If I hated football and never played the sport, would you call me a FOOTBALL PLAYER. Saying that an atheist is practicing a religion is the same thing. Religions are for people who believe in GODS. THe stupid in your comment is beyond belief.
