exactly my point indeed....
if the earth was round like a ball the oceans would fall off into space.
just you try putting water on a ball and see if it stays there???no, of course not...it falls off.
but if you have a flat pond and fill it with water it stays there as long as the edge of the pond are well contained.
in the case of the earth the waters are contained with mountains or higher grounds...thats why the water level is the lowest level on the surface of the earth because it is contained by surrounding higher grounds.
