People once believed the earth was flat. Not true it was never thought by any civilisation that the earth was flat. During the early Middle Ages all scholars maintained the spherical viewpoint first expressed by the Ancient Greeks.
It was never believed the earth was flat, it may of been used by the hierarchy to keep the people in their place and instilled fear however it is a fact that no learned people ever believed the earth was flat.
