i'm an atheist and i think this life is pointless.

In the mornings, when I'm usually wide awake, I love to take a walk through the gardens and down by the lake, where I often see a duck and a drake, and I wonder, as I walk by, just what they'd say if they could speak, although I know that's an absurd thought.

If being an atheist isn't working and it makes you life feel worthless, give not being an atheist a try, Try the Holy Bible and God and his Son Christ Jesus Emmanuel, the Savior Jesus or what ever name you choose to call him just know it meaning in God On Earth, the word of God.

Your thinking this is just a thought and rather pointless.The thought that this is all pointless is just a thought that is not real. How can it be? It comes and goes as all thoughts do and feelings as well.The ego or mind wants a reason to live and a purpose. It wants many other things to like uninterrupted happiness and love and peace etc. Sorry none of that stuff exists outside of us. More money will only make the mind want more and the fear of losing it. There is no peace of mind. The mind is not peaceful by it's nature.

If it is meant to kill yourself you will. The fact that you have failed shows that you have no control. Life wants you here til it doesn't for whatever reason whether you like it or not.

Just trace your depression and the string will lead to a thought embraced or believed. Why does life have to have a purpose ? It is what it is and that's all and you are part of the flow of life. You are alive. The mind is the drama and life is thoughtless and timeless. The mind is not in life. The mind is just an interpreter or commentary on life but is the menu the food? Nope.

So my suggestion is to ponder and to just observe your thoughts and feelings. Just movements of energy interpreted by the mind.

That is what was revealed to me when I went through a 3-4 week at my place really depressed and had it with life.I was seeing all my beliefs drop ( Christianity etc).I had nothing losing a home and a wife all in one week.

Read a book I Am That by Nisargadatta Maharaj and led me to do a self inquiry. Just watching my thoughts and feelings not resisting or accepting. And realizing that all is not real. Anyway, I'm interested in dying too, I think it will be an amazing experience, but before that, there's so much I want to see and do on earth. And this is our one chance to be human and get all those human experiences. 800 (healthy) years is my estimate of how many things I would like to do in life.

I don't really recommend trying to receive yourself though. It is hardly impossible to be a very happy, meaning-filled atheist. You gotta figure it out, yeah, but that's what being an adult is all about. Going to places like the Bolivian salt flats can help you to understand, if you are really struggling.

Life seems pointless because human's are infinite beings who are forced to experience this limited reality.

You may feel it is pointless when you focus on the earthliness of it all, so to speak. It pulls you down into a spiral that doesn't do anything. Round and round you see the empty hollowness of earthly things.

However, maybe a small spark of light inside you says, there just has to be a reason why I'm here, and that we are all here. That is where you need to focus, as it is that spark of light, that beautiful small whisper of a call to inquire. A call to inquire from the depth of your soul is slowly emerging. It is a time to quietly listen to the call to find the answer.

This answer is found only quietly and peacefully. The answer is your "raison d'etre." It is a precious "ah ha!" moment in time. It is now that you can truly learn, because only now deep down inside you, you truly, truly want to know. This is the most wonderful thing that could happen to a human being... You are being ever so gently called by your creator, God. It is time for you to listen very quietly and thankfully, because you have heard His voice. Rejoice! Give thanks! Pray feverently. Don't you get it? This is precisely why the world does not want you to know the truth, so they have lulled you into a lie. They've ranked you no higher than a roach. This is why they can murder 50 million babies (and counting) since Roe vs. Wade, 1973, and feel as though they are unaccountable. Now, when Martial Law comes, and they start executing, gassing, decapitating, and hanging folk. They will label their carnage as an execution. This is why they push evolution, and won't allow God to get a foot in the door. Our world is spiritual (Ephesians 6:12), and there is a darkness with an agenda so damning, that it hopes all feel the same way you do, as it knows this will lead to your destruction.
Now, if you believe this life is it, and there's nothing afterward, I say you're taking one HELL of a chance. I am 50 years old, and have heard much evidence to the contrary. Jesus Christ, at the very least, brought us hope (things unseen) of an eternity in paradise, beyond the grave. No one on this site, nor in this world, can convince me that death in of itself isn't evil. It strips us from our loved ones forever. It can end the most promising, young, and relevant life, as we live hour by hour (Paul, 1 Cor 15). I know that Jesus conquered the grave, and have built a life beyond this one, that will make this life pale in comparison. Otherwise, why would I have children in a life, that will end in everlasting nothing? Why not, at least, have this hope? I assure you, it will bring you much joy. Seek the light, don't linger in the darkness, as most men do.
