the first image is not the Moon IMO. It's just NASA claiming it's the moon. If the phenomenon is as common as you claim you should be able to provide your own examples via direct links to dozens of images in the past few years. Not a bunch of images taken 20 years ago. One of them DOES look like the Moon though. (1998)

You are familiar with the search parameters are you not?

any bozo can Google 'GOES Moon images' and find images of NASA claiming it's the Moon.

Hey Bozo, the Moon passes the View of the Satellite EVERY DAY. Think about it, GOES is stationary above the Earth that rotates by the Moon EVERY DAY. Most days it's either Too HIGH or Too LOW to be in the image. When it's not Too High or Low, the camera has to snap the shot within the few minutes the Moon is in the FOV. It is not there for long. Try loading the Goes 13 orbit into a program and check it out instead of flapping your gums. The next date the Moon will be in the correct location is around Sept 14th. GOES 13 will only have a few minutes to catch it though.

laugh YOU are the one who claimed to know the search parameters and now you're struggling to provide a few examples of your own. Are you now trying to claim it's not as common as you thought? hmm

I think they update every half hour, so surely there must be dozens of examples from the past few years that were in the correct position to snap the "Moon"

amirite?

All you have to do is look, instead of that thing you call 'think' [link to goes.gsfc.nasa.gov] It's every THREE HOURS, and the Moon is only in the FOV for 14 minutes. Look at the list, it only goes for ONE WEEK. Again, instead of that defective thing you call thinking, you should research instead. What, you can't load the orbit and research? Sept 14th, if they take the 02:35 UTC shot, the Moon will be in almost the same location as this shot [link to goes.gsfc.nasa.gov] It will be dark though, only a thin sliver of Sunlight from the left. Watch and see. As with my other predictions, I really like my odds on this one.

How many times do they need to show the same image [link to goes.gsfc.nasa.gov] with M-O-O-N plastered on it to register with you?

why don't you load your super duper 'elements' or whatever into the link you provided earlier [link to www.noaasis.noaa.gov] and use that to find a permalink to an actual image.

is that too much too ask?

I never claimed that I know how to "load orbits"

YOU are the supposed expert.

all I'm asking is for you to provide a few examples, preferably a time stamped full disc true color.

one of the Moon labeled NASA Images you provided was a true color so I'm assuming it's also common on those?

btw..can you link us to the archived true color image from the time of ops image so we can see if it shows up there also?

TIA
