why aren't we planting more fruit trees? are we stupid?

Lots of folks can have gardens and animals but you definitely NEED to check the regulations with your city court house as far as feet away from human buildings and like for chickens here they have to have at least 4 square feet for each bird.

The people that are really stuck out are the ones that live in newer home areas that have Home owner associations, if shtf those people will be the first to starve as most do not allow even gardens much less food producing animals.

You are 100% correct. Why does everyone plant grass, when they can have a harvest of food always growing there? Conditioning and ignorance is the answer. All national parks and public areas should be spread with the seeds of fruit bearing plants. Even George Washington said we should plant as much indian hemp as possible. People can eat that plant and receive many medicinal and nutritional benefits.

But even just the fruit everywhere would end dependence on money and jobs and the daily rat race. We are in the garden of eden. It just has a thorn of misinformation in it. Remove that thorn from our minds and plant some trees.

I have 5 citrus tree and a loquat in my back yard for myself and friends. I planted 9 citrus and a loquat in the front yard for neighborhood children.

The fruits come in at different times and two of them make fruit year round. I planted them four years ago, so they are well established. In fact they have survived a hurricane and 14 degree weather, so I think they will live for the future.

or here in an idea, get a university degree and make something of your life instead of working at mcdicks barely making ends meat and having to sell drugs or yourself on the side to feed your family/ epic drug habbits.

I agree OP, ever since I adopted a fruit and veggie lifestyle I feel a millions times better about everything and I look GREAT!

I wouldn't eat fruit from a tree that has trucks, cars and trains driving by everyday and puffing toxins onto it

how do you propose we do that, do you know anything about farming?
first you cant plant 1 crop, that saps all of the nutrients from the earth and you will be unable to grow anything in a few seasons. second growing conditions depend on weather conditions, is it too hot too cold too wet too dry? and third vegetable and fruit bearing plants are extremely sensitive too all of those factors and require a massive ammount of work to sow the fields, irrigate the fields, de-weeding and ensuring no bugs or pests enter your crop and destroy it, because guess what if any of those things go wrong you will have no food and die. . . .

so... do you grow enough food to feed yourself year round.... cause that is what i am talking about, forget about feeding yourself year round for a second, do you grow enough lettuce to feed a pet rabbit year round? I dont think you appreciate the ammount of food it takes to feed 1 person year round, much less 6 billion...

a single sidewalk of vegetation and fruit can sustain that entire block of families year round.

The best apple I've ever tasted in my life came from a tree in my sister's backyard in California. They had NEVER tried apples from this tree even though it had been in her husband's family for generations. Instead, they insisted on buying the waxy gross apples from the supermarket.
I live in New Zealand and everyone has fruit trees. I never buy fruit from the supermarket. America is so freakin backwards.

The biggest problem with it is that nothing is safe to eat anymore.Everything has been modified or contaminated.So really if we dont end up starving it will just prolong our agony.

I had 60 lbs of carrots I harvested all at once this summer. I offered my next door neighbor 10 lbs. for free, already washed, trimmed, bagged. He said "no thanks, if it don't come from a grocery store, I don't eat it."

The man saw them grow all spring over the fence. Knows I don't use chemicals on my garden. Commented several times how nice it all looked.

It boggles my mind.
