Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
Does anyone know how to get around this? or is this what we have come to?

I have received e mails to several different phones and never remember giving them my number before.
“If Noah’s flood really did occur, what would you expect to find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.” And guess what we find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.

I use yahoo mail, have done since the beginning of my time on the net, and it has never asked me for my number before logging me in. In fact I checked my mail about 10 minutes ago. No problem. But I use yahoo mail uk. I don't know if that's any different.

I have had this account for years as well.

Do you get e mails sent to a cell phone?

I realize that it has to be routed to the phone. But I do not want to weed through a bunch of crap calls and texts, besides the obvious reasons that I don't want to give it.

No, but I can log on using my phone if I want to.

Come to think of it, I might have given them my phone number all those years ago when I signed up, so that's why they don't ask me for it now.

Re: Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
I logged into my other accounts, yahoo and others, and do have this issue no matter who the provider is.
The only one asking me is the only one that I have ever had connected to a cell phone.
So I guess they already have it to send it to my phone.

We know that privacy is just a word anymore anyway.

Thanks for the input.

Bad idea the person on the other end could reset your password and take your account. If you don't care then...

Don't fill it out and simply hit continue. They won't stop you from getting to your account.

Re: Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
all the freebie email providers ask for your cell number now. they all also have an "opt out" link in the request page (though usually fine font and not obvious). just look for it when you sign on and they ask for the number... ive got like 5 yahell accounts, a few gmail, and a couple hotmail. all work, and none have been given my number. rather than going all goggle eyed paranoid, READ the whole page before you come here.

Re: Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
I have closed out page and even used different search providers and pages.
There is not a continue option and it is only on the e mail account attached to my phone.

After persistence I finally was able to just type in a code, and then changed my password.

Thank you all for your comments and input.

Re: Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
Seeing no other option, i finally broke down and entered my work phone. The phone immediately rang and gave me the verification code for my account access.

What the heck was the point of that? If someone had hacked my account, they would just enter their number and get the code. Security my A$$, they just want more personal info to sell.

Re: Yahoo mail wants my cell number to log in now
aparently hotmail/live started doing it too but you can get around it as well, by hitting save and then continue(just leaving them blank)

If youve got a push inbox on your phone it wont do it but will if you log in froma webpage.

use other mail services
