i've watched seedlings grow and they will both get just so high and will tumble...unless one grasps something else to grow higher they will both die.

so they need each other to survive..

why are you attaching human subjectivity to seedlings anyway? right or wrong?... as far as commonly observable, plants aren't sentient tho there are people who would argue otherwise.

not so much "need" as they can survive for a short time...until as i said...one decides to grasp unto something else to live so as not to fall down and die.

if you're talking of light vs dark in other ways...the two cannot exist together but remain separate. be in the dark of a room...turn an a light...what happens? the light, lights up the room...hmmmm? but there are shadows? so it's never all light nor all dark? perhaps even this survives together?
