There is a spiritual rapture (not death) when the great earthquake happens.

Exactly! This person is right! The rapture is a false theory that has people deceived about the manner of Christ's coming. Yes he is coming, and coming soon, but not as the rapture theory suggests. He is coming in power and great glory AFTER the tribulation, but God's people will be protected through it!

Though it does no good to say so, those of us who believe there will be a pre-trib Rapture base our views on scripture alone. Use a search engine and you'll find that the old "Darby did it", "Margaret McDonald", "Schofield" mantra is just a fallacious diversion and completely irrelevant. We also take it as condescending to be told that we are somehow more easily fooled than the pre-trib haters, who seem to consider themselves more enlightened or mature or superior, judging by their zeal. I don't bother trying to go point-by-point anymore on these cut-and-paste talking points from anti-Rapture teachers. And since this venue is not exactly a place where civilized, reason discourse can happen, I just post a link to my blog where people can search for "rapture" articles.

The problem with a pre-tribulation rapture is that the dead rise first and then the living. This is stated many times. If the Dead and living are raptured then how can more people be persecuted and live with Christ after the rapture? It does not go Dead, Living, Dead again. That is more then one first resurrection/rapture.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord: that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who are asleep.

The living do not precede those that are asleep, (dead in Christ first).

Look carefully at 1 Thes. 4:16: it is not all the dead who rise at this time, but only those who are in Christ. Those who reject dispensationalism and think that all the righteous of all ages are lumped together have to ignore the "in Christ" part or interpret it as just another way to refer to all the righteous dead. But being "in Christ" is something unique, something Paul said was not known until it was revealed to him personally by Jesus. So what he's saying here is that Christians who have died will rise and be given immortal bodies before the living Christians' bodies are transformed as well.

Jesus alluded to this in John 11:25:“Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though He dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
