Little known often rejected truth is that Russia (for decades) and China (in more recent times) have always known that the greatest vulnerability of the USA has been within, its democracy and freedom, and they have exploited it in every possible way.

When you are seeking to destroy your enemy, but are no match for their superior military, and/or are at best assured mutual destruction, then you divert all of your assets toward defeating and ultimately destroying your enemy.

As far as it goes now in that regard, the USA has been defeated, it's all over but the crying now, after the realization finally sets in.

The threats are many now, destruction may be as unavoidable as it is 'unsurvivable' and inevitable now.

Quite honestly it is amazing that we have not already blown the place up. We have been sitting fifteen minutes away from global annihilation for 5 decades now. It is only the doctrine of MAD that has prevented it. Shifting the balance of MAD by putting up missile defense shields is a very bad idea, as it bolsters the stance taken by extreme warhawk types that a global thermonuclear war is actually winnable in some manner. Winnable in their books being that your side only suffered 90% complete destruction.
