I don't care what any study says, I'll keep to my foods that aren't stuffed with random bull shit like Bisphenol-A.

Plus Whole Foods supports local products and produce, that I'll happily pay a dollar or two more for then feed some super company money for assembly line products.

They are probably as nutritious, but overall they are probably better for the environment. I can't really afford organic food at the moment, but given a choice I would buy organic stuff, certainly fruit and vegetables anyway.

Too right ;) it seems they don't know when to stop.

Studies of the nutrient content in organic foods vary in results due to differences in the ground cover and maturity of the organic farming operation. Nutrient content also varies from farmer to farmer and year to year. However, reviews of multiple studies show that organic varieties do provide significantly greater levels of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus than non-organic varieties of the same foods. While being higher in these nutrients, they are also significantly lower in nitrates and pesticide residues. In addition, with the exception of wheat, oats, and wine, organic foods typically provide greater levels of a number of important antioxidant phytochemicals (anthocyanins, flavonoids, and carotenoids).

anthocyanins are great at cancer prevention so they are evil they have to go under their reasoning anyways.

I never really ever thought it had as much to do with nutrition, but actually this:

[link to en.wikipedia.org]
Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Organic foods are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives.

My point is that the story is misleading as far as I am concearned.

Re: Organic food no more nutritious than non-organic, study finds
nutritional science is a joke

all food is poison to one degree or another. the eating habit is actually a metaphysical technique that we use to sedate ourselves and lower our vibration in order to match it to the environment. When you eat you lose energy in the form of heat. more than 50% of your body's energy is used in the digestive process. This promotes relief from tension / pressure / stress when your vibration is much higher than those around you and the environment, but in turn keeps you weak, sick and apathetic, which the bulk of your energy and blood flow on the stomach. Very few people actually think with their brains, most use their genitals or their stomach to think.

That is why I say: The biggest secret to perfect health besides conservation of sexual energy is quitting the eating habit. Sadly, most people will never understand this.

A fairy tale of whole paycheck.....
Genetically Engineered Foods

Our goal at Whole Foods Market is to provide informed consumer choice with regard to genetically engineered ingredients (also known as GMOs or Genetically Modified Organisms). Clearly labeled products enable shoppers who want to avoid foods made with GMOs to do so. Accordingly we offer a growing array of choices in our stores by sourcing our 365 Everyday Value® food products to avoid GMOs, by supporting organic agriculture (which prohibits the use of GMOs), and by encouraging other food producers to offer non-GMO options.

When developing our national store brand food products under the 365 Everyday Value® label, we work with our manufacturers to source non-GMO ingredients. In July 2009, we began working with the Non-GMO Project to verify and label our store brand food products using the nation’s first authoritative standard for Non-GMO products. All of our 365 Everyday Value® food products are enrolled in the Project, and you can find a list of verified products (both our store brands and other brands) at your local Whole Foods Market’s store.

The Project is a collaboration of manufacturers, retailers, processors, distributors, farmers, seed breeders and consumers who have developed North America’s first independent third-party Non-GMO Product Verification Program. This program ensures that food production follows rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance, and the seal allows consumers to make informed food buying choices.

The Product Verification Program uses a process that combines on-site facility audits, document-based review and product testing to verify compliance with the standard at every level of the supply chain, from manufacturing facilities to ingredient suppliers. For a product to be verified and bear the seal, it must undergo a process through which any ingredient at high risk for GMO contamination—soy or corn, for example—has been proven to meet the standard through avoidance practices and testing.
Gmos & Certified Organic Products

By law, organic products must be created only with non-GMO ingredients. Buying organic products throughout our stores is a reliable way for customers to choose non-GMO foods. Accordingly, we encourage manufacturers and producers to label organic products as not grown from genetically engineered seed.We also encourage other manufacturers and producers to create products without GMO ingredients or processes and to have them verified and labeled as such.
We offer a wide variety of choices for our customers who prefer to avoid GMOs:

Go organic! The USDA National Organic Standards do not allow genetically engineered seed and ingredients in the growth and production of organic foods.

Buy 365 Everyday Value® food products. This line is formulated to avoid genetically engineered ingredients and is enrolled with the Non-GMO Project.

Look for the Non-GMO Project Verified seal, which indicates the product has passed a third-party verification program indicating that a product has been produced according to best practices and procedures to avoid the intentional use of GMO ingredients.

Re: Organic food no more nutritious than non-organic, study finds
If you read the study, and read the info that was glossed over, the nutrients that they found were the same in orgnics and non-organics are not really the ones that make organics valuable.

What makes organics valuable are the trace minerals and nutraceuticals (antioxidants like polyphenols, not vitamins). You eat organcs for the lower chemical content, which the study confirmed they had, and for more antioxidant and nutraceutical content.

For example, the cancer-fighting, anti-inflammatory agents in ginger, for example, aren't due to its content of vitamin A, B, C, D, E or K, or the amount of protein, starch or fat in it. If all you are looking for in a food is a vehicle for those USDA-defined macro- and micro-nutrients, then you can skip buying organics.

So the things that the study found that organics are higher in, are the important things to me: fewer chemicals, more trace minerals and phenols.

I agree that the story is misleading. It's the kind of thing that agrigulture industry funded scientists kick out from time to time to confuse people who don't understand functional nutrition and health foods.

I don't mind because when the dummies turn onto something good that I like, and it goes mainstream, it just makes that thing more expensive and harder to get for me.

Maybe you should find the definition of organic...

It has nothing to do with nutrition, it has to do with safety from pesticides... iamwith

thats the irony if the whole "green/enviromental/socialist movement", its never about improving the lives of the common man, just the elites.

The elites are the only ones who have been able to afford that stuff.

missing the point.

organic is more about political, social, even spiritual ideas than nutritional.

Noone ever claimed that organic was somehow "better" for you -at least not here. Perhaps they claim such things in the US.

This has been know since forever.

Okay;

So, an apple which is grown in poison and one that is not would surely have a similar nutritional value.

However, I doubt they take into account the poisons in the non-organic food as they do not appear in any nutritional tables, nor have severe instant effects.
...There effects are long-term.

Good try MSM.
