Could the east coast be gearing up for for an earthquake? Or even worse, is the New Madrid going to go sooner rather than later? With a recent study showing that the sea level on the east coast is rising faster than any place else in the world, the record ice melt in the Artic, and recent earthquakes around Greenland and the Atlantic Ridge I think we should be prepared (BTW, I saw a thread about a National Earthquake drill earlier today). Add in the sinkhole in LA and al off the water backing up into the Mississippi and the extra rain areas on the New Madrid fault from Irene I think we are headed for a natural disaster that will be bigger than Katrina. I pray it does not happen, but there is only so much we can do; Mother Earth is going to do as she pleases. Does anybody else have any other information to factor into this disaster? East Coast National Parks at Risk From Rising Sea Levels (Personally I think this is causing post glacier rebound and has nothing to do with global warming). [ link to green.blogs.nytimes.com]
