Should East Coast prepare for an earthquake
Could the east coast be gearing up for for an earthquake? Or even worse, is the New Madrid going to go sooner rather than later?

With a recent study showing that the sea level on the east coast is rising faster than any place else in the world, the record ice melt in the Artic, and recent earthquakes around Greenland and the Atlantic Ridge I think we should be prepared (BTW, I saw a thread about a National Earthquake drill earlier today).
Add in the sinkhole in LA and al off the water backing up into the Mississippi and the extra rain areas on the New Madrid fault from Irene I think we are headed for a natural disaster that will be bigger than Katrina. I pray it does not happen, but there is only so much we can do; Mother Earth is going to do as she pleases.

Does anybody else have any other information to factor into this disaster?

East Coast National Parks at Risk From Rising Sea Levels (Personally I think this is causing post glacier rebound and has nothing to do with global warming).

Everything I have been reading lately states the sea waters DROP not rise before the bigger quakes.

Re: Should East Coast prepare for an earthquake
Scientists at the US National Snow and Ice Data Center reported Monday that the amount of ice covering the sea surface has shrunk to its lowest recorded level.

GIRDWOOD, Alaska — The area of the Arctic covered by sea ice has hit a record low, according to new satellite data.

The news confirms the fears of environmentalists here that the steady and dramatic thawing of the ice is threatening the delicate ecosystem of the Arctic, and it has further rattled native communities who see their traditional way of life threatened by the effects of climate change.

Scientists at the US National Snow and Ice Data Center reported Monday that satellite measurements of “sea ice extent,” or the amount of ice covering the sea surface, has shrunk to a level that goes beyond the record-breaking year of 2007.

I would think that they would rise because if the ocean floor is pulling the land mass down, the water would appear to rise.

I'm not entirely sure if I buy it, but I am totally open to learning what others think. The weight of the water being distributed causing the sea floor to drop, making it seems as if the levels are rising makes some sense to me. We have also been seeing more earthquakes in the Northern Atlantic area lately.

I'm a little in from the coast, about 50 miles from the Chesepeke Bay. Of course I do not worry myself sick over it and I do not think that we will have a huge body of water open up between the continent. I am starting to enjoy researching it. There are many therories out there and I'm curious as to what others think and know.

The sea floor lowering could also be what is pushing so many volcanos to erupt lately. It could all be a coincidence, however I think that the earth's innards are all connected one way or another.
