Have you read 1 Corinthians 12 and 14? Both chapters deal with tongues and prophecy, enumerating the gifts of the spirit. Even 1 Corinthians 11 gives us instruction on how a church should be ran. All 3 chapters were meant to guide the church to this day.

I have seen, been given and have given prophetic words that edified and strengthened the church. You're claims are funky bro, seek God's wisdom and don't throw out something just because you can't wrap your mind around it.

i have read it. and these things are finished. they completed in 96 AD at the completion of scripture. the only virtues still existing are faith, hope and love/charity. faith and hope will also pass away when Jesus returns. Love is eternal.

the claims are not my own. it is written in scripture.
you keep asking me the same question over and over but you are not willing to read what i have provided here.

This is the same baptist mentality, build up your theology on single stand alone scriptures and miss the point entirely.

So you're saying because of this one scripture that was written in approx. 56 A.D. that it nullifies scripture written 40 years later? Why then when they slapped together the New Testament (Muratorian fragment) did they include the chapters of the bible that talk about current works of the spirit if they are "supposedly" dead? Makes no sense at all.

The Holy Spirit is alive and still moves today.

No, all you need is LOVE.

Faith and hope are for those who don't actually believe. Why would I need FAITH OR HOPE if I have KNOWLEDGE of God?

SALT, on this one I call FAIL, this is the time of being in the cosmic energies when bodies remodel so that telepathic abilities increase. And also people begin to hear their Father Fragments too. Christians overly stuck on Jesus often are hearing their Father Fragments and not Jesus, but they assume Jesus.

There are well over 200 million star seeds who come IN with the Ability, or developed it after birth to telepathically chat with other beings in the Universe. I am of course one of them and I have had the ability and used it since my birth into this world. There are also charletons, many of them in new age and quite a few in Christianity.

The CIA does have an actual program using technology to send messages, but the technology doesn't allow two way telepathic conversation and people that don't know that are easily used. It its a REAL BEING, you can have a conversation mentally with them back and forth. Notice there are consistance messages on the net from Jesus and MOther mary that are completely fraudulent and I don't know if the "channel" IF ITS A REAL CHANNEL, tries to telepath two ways or not. But these sure as hell are NOT mother Mary and Jesus, as I know them and I know the truth. And there is much false teaching. The telepath if actually telepathy, does not know enough of the nature of God that she does not question the BS in them.

how to appease your god huh? and if there are multiple gods, are you sure you want to be worshiping the one that destroys humans that he doesnt like, sends them to hell, or ruins their life to prove a point to other gods(the book of jobe). yes he gets everything back x2 but do you really think having your family killed and replaced is a happy life? be careful who you worship. you choose your god out of fear, not love, which is something the bible tells you is a sin in the first place. satan worshippers actually have more logic in their beliefs than christians. atleast think about what i said before yelling at me please

"Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."
I Corinthians 13:8

"For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
II Corinthians 11:4

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
II Corinthians 11:13-15

The obsession of Charismatics and Pentecostals to speak in tongues is the devil’s lie to deceive and destroy some sincere saints; replace sound doctrine and Bible preaching with entertainment, fables, and showmanship; and to disgrace the gospel of Jesus Christ. Modern speaking in tongues cannot be separated from the widespread healing frauds, laughing revivals, slaying in the Spirit, money begging, dog barking, drunk in the spirit, and other profane practices of the same parties. The leading ministers and churches of this movement are totally different from apostolic religion in doctrine and practice. This simple study will show once and for all that speaking in tongues had ended by 70 A.D.

Tongues Have Ceased

“Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
I Corinthians 13:8

1. Bible tongues had a definite beginning. They began on the day of Pentecost in 30 AD, fifty days after the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, just as He had promised (Mark 16:17-20; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4). Their role as a sign gift to unbelieving Israel had been suggested by Isaiah's prophecy of God speaking to Israel with men of other tongues (I Cor 14:21-22; Isaiah 28:11-12).

2. Bible tongues had a definite beginning. They began with Jesus empowering His apostles to preach the gospel to all nations before Rome destroyed Jerusalem
and ended the ceremonial Law (Matt 24:14; 28:18-20). God used the gift of tongues to magnify the apostles as heavenly messengers, in spite of lacking education, reputation, and human authority (Acts 4:13; 5:12-13; 8:14-19; 19:1-7).

3. Bible tongues had a definite beginning.
They began with the empowerment of the church, which was to worship in an entirely new way (John 4:21-24). The Spirit was to guide the apostles into all truth for writing the New Testament as the new manual for religion, but He would reveal truth by gifts until then (John 14:26; 16:13; Acts 10:28; I Cor 12:7-11; 14:37; II Tim 3:16-17; II Pet 1:21).

4. Bible tongues lasted only a short while. Paul told the tongues-speaking church at Corinth that the Spirit's revelatory gifts would end (I Cor 13:8). In spite of their emphasis on prophecy, tongues, and gifts of knowledge, Paul promised that these gifts were temporary. Charity was a more excellent way of serving, for charity was permanent and would never end (I Cor 12:31; 13:8,13).

5. Bible tongues were very inadequate.
The spiritual gifts of prophecy, the word of knowledge, and tongues brought only a partial revelation of God's will to any man or church (I Cor 13:9). They were short-term, incomplete fixes for immediate instruction and answers to questions. Because of this, prophets had to work together, for their gifts were very limited and partial (I Cor 14:29-31).

6. Bible tongues were not needed after perfect revelation came. The New Testament scriptures were the perfect revelation that ended and replaced the Spirit's revelatory gifts, which were all partial (I Cor 13:9-10). Every church then had God's complete revelation (II Tim 3:16-17; II Pet 1:19). The context demands a comparison of partial and perfect revelation, not the coming of Jesus Christ.

7. Bible tongues were childish and immature. Paul used a metaphor of human development to compare the inferior revelation of spiritual gifts to the perfect revelation of the Bible. The church was then in its infancy, but it would soon pass to a mature stage with greater knowledge. As adults put away childish things, so Christians would put away childish things like tongues (I Cor 13:11).

8. Bible tongues communicated only vague knowledge. Paul told Corinth that the gifts only provided obscure knowledge of God and His will for the churches. He told them that the completed Scriptures would allow them to see in perfect detail, like face to face (I Cor 13:12a). The context demands a comparison of obscure and detailed knowledge, not the coming of Jesus Christ.

9. Bible tongues communicated only partial knowledge. Paul taught that revelatory gifts only provided partial knowledge, but the completed New Testament would provide perfect knowledge, even to the degree of detail that God knew Paul (I Cor 13:12b compared to 13:9-10). The context demands a comparison of partial and perfect knowledge, not the coming of Jesus Christ.

10. Bible tongues could not touch Bible revelation. The Old Testament was perfect for that covenant (Ps 19:7; 119:96). The New Testament was more sure than God's voice from heaven, could make ministers perfect, and is called the perfect law of liberty (II Pet 1:16-21; II Tim 3:16-17; Jas 1:25). The perfect thing replacing the temporary gifts of prophecy, knowledge, and tongues did come!

11. Bible tongues had a definite end. They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, when the apostles had finished writing the New Testament scriptures and such partial and obscure gifts of revelation were no longer needed (I Cor 13:8-12). While Paul was alive the apostles confirmed each other's writings (I Tim 5:18; II Tim 3:15-17; II Pet 3:15-16). The need for tongues had ended.

12. Bible tongues had a definite end. They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, when the apostles' testimony came to an end. These sign gifts were given in the beginning to confirm the preaching of fishermen and tax collectors, and they ended when their witness was established throughout the Roman Empire and they had gone home to heaven (Mark 16:17-20; Heb 2:1-4).

13. Bible tongues had a definite end.
They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, when the time of reformation ended, and the kingdom of Jesus Christ was fully established in the earth (Matt 16:28; Heb 12:28-29). They were needed only for 40 years to help confirm the new religion and worship introduced by John the Baptist, Jesus Christ, and His apostles (Luke 16:16; John 4:21-24).

14. Bible tongues had a definite end.
They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, when the Roman armies destroyed the Jewish nation, Jerusalem, and the temple. Tongues were primarily a sign for unbelieving jewish people, because the jewish people required signs (Deut 18:21-22; I Cor 1:22; 14:21-22). But once Israel was scattered in judgment, the need for tongues was gone (Acts 2:17-21).

15. Bible tongues had a definite end.
They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, in perfect agreement with the prophecy about them (Micah 7:14-20; Acts 2:17-21; 7:36; Heb 9:10). God had prophesied the duration of this marvelous thing – forty years – and the climactic events ending it – the finished Bible and Israel's destruction! Give God the glory, and believe His prophecy!

16. Bible tongues had a definite end. They ended by 70 AD, forty years after they began, when the special gift of fluently speaking a foreign language ceased forever. History confirms exactly what had been prophesied – no one spoke in tongues after 70 A.D. The gibberish of possessed Hindus, American Indians, Eskimos, and modern Charismatics and Pentecostals are not the gift of tongues.

17. Bible tongues were definite languages of mankind. The incoherent babbling, gibberish, barking, laughing, and oinking today are not close to the Spirit's gift, which was only and always definite human languages capable of translation (Acts 2:1-11; 10:46; I Cor 14:21-22). Jannes and Jambres of the Charismatics and Pentecostals cannot duplicate the Spirit's gift (Gen 8:16-19; II Tim 3:8-9).

18. Bible tongues were a sign to unbelievers. Today's emphasis on speaking among believers in church services, crusades, or so-called revivals is contrary to God's will for the gift (I Cor 14:22). Tongues were to convince unbelievers that the speaker was sent by God with a divine message, as at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-11). The use of tongues among believers misses God's purpose for them.

19. Bible tongues were the least gift in the church. The Holy Spirit ranked the gifts for Corinth, which had become distracted by their obsession for spiritual gifts, so the current emphasis on this gift disobeys the priority and emphasis of God (I Cor 12:28). Apostles, prophets, and teachers were clearly superior, because they communicated knowledge. Even helpers were more important!

20. Bible tongues were spoken only by some in a church. The rest of the members were to be content without speaking them, so the obsession today for tongues is clearly wrong (I Cor 12:30). For ministers and churches to demand speaking in tongues as evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is contrary to the word of God, for only some ever had the real gift, which none have today.

Many church leaders get the congregation into a frenzy and under hypnosis. You can see that by the crazy chanting, waving their heads all over the place and then dropping like stones. I think it is the church leaders getting the congregation to loose control of their minds and not the holy spirit.

Re: All you need is FAITH, HOPE and LOVE to live pleasing to God. 7 times it's repeated. Prophecy, tongues & words of knowledge have passed away
The sign gifts, tongues, prophecy, the gift of healing, etc. were operating all through the Book of Acts, and these gifts are mentioned in the letters that Paul wrote during the Acts period. But when we turn to the letters written after the Book of Acts—the 4 Prison Epistles, and the 3 Pastoral Epistles, we find that the sign gifts either aren’t mentioned at all or we see—as with the gift of healing—that they were no longer operating in Paul’s life. What he could do in Acts 28, he could no longer do in Philippians, or in 1 and 2 Timothy. He could heal all the sick on the island in Acts 28:9, but he couldn’t heal any of his closest co-workers—Timothy, Epaphroditus, Trophimus—after the close of the Book of Acts.

Arranging Paul’s letters in the order that he wrote them allows us to see the pattern of truth that is found in the Word of God:

The sign gifts were operating in Acts and in all of the Acts Epistles: Galatians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Corinthians and Romans.

But in this time period, in 1 Corinthians 13:8-12, Paul tells us that the Lord had revealed to him that these gifts would cease some day. And they did, because in the letters written after the Book of Acts, the sign gifts had ceased, just as the Lord said that they would.

The pattern could not be clearer, and the contrast could not be sharper between the earlier letters and the later letters, between the time when all the sign gifts were operating, and the time when all the sign gifts had ceased.

We can now give a scriptural answer to the question that we started with: when did the sign gifts cease?

The answer: The sign gifts ceased at the end of the Book of Acts. There is no record in Scripture of any of the sign gifts operating in any of the letters that Paul wrote after the end of the Acts period, and it is clear that the gift of healing had ceased since Paul could no longer heal even his closest co-workers after the close of the Book of Acts.

Re: All you need is FAITH, HOPE and LOVE to live pleasing to God. 7 times it's repeated. Prophecy, tongues & words of knowledge have passed away
Why did the sign gifts cease?

Having seen the pattern of truth regarding the gifts, we need to ask, why did the gifts cease at this time?

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:8-12—

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”

The gift of tongues, prophecy and knowledge during the Acts period were only “in part”—they were incomplete, they did not communicate the full knowledge that the Lord had to reveal. But the Lord revealed to Paul that “that which is perfect” was coming. In English, as in Greek, this is a neuter pronoun—”that thing which is perfect.” Paul was not writing about the coming of “He who is perfect” but of the coming of a “thing” which is perfect. When it came, then the gifts which were only “in part” would cease.

It would be like the difference between being a child and becoming a grown man, or between seeing someone’s face reflected in a wavy ancient mirror, and seeing the person face-to-face.

Before the end of the Book of Acts, during the Acts period, and in the letters written during the Acts period, the Lord had only revealed part of the “dispensation of grace” (Eph. 3:2) to the Apostle Paul, but He had not yet revealed the entire message to him. It was still only “in part” during the Acts period, but with the close of the Book of Acts, the Lord completed the revelation of the “Mystery” (see Eph. 3:3,4,9 and Col. 1:26,27, etc.). “That which is perfect” was finally revealed in all its fullness to the Apostle Paul and at that moment, those things which were only “in part” passed away from God’s program.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:12—

“Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”

When Paul wrote “now I know in part,” he used the common word for “know,” the Greek word gnosis.

But then, when he wrote “but then I shall know…” he changes the word from gnosis to epignosis, “to fully know.”

We could paraphrase Paul’s statement: “Now, as I’m writing 1 Corinthians in Acts 19, I have gnosis—I know, in part, what God’s message is for us today in the dispensation of grace, but then—when that which is perfect has come—I shall have epignosis—the full knowledge of God’s message of grace for us today.”

All through the Book of Acts Paul had only “gnosis,” partial knowledge of the message of grace, but when we turn to the Prison Letters we suddenly find Paul using that word “epignosis”—he had now received that “full knowledge” which he didn’t have when he wrote to the Corinthians:

“For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge (epignosis—full knowledge) of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ” (Col. 2:1-2).

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge (epignosis—full knowledge) of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light” (Col. 1:9-12).

In all the seven letters written after the close of the Book of Acts, Paul uses this word “epignosis”—the full knowledge. What he had not yet received in 1 Corinthians 13, he now has. That which is perfect had come and so the sign gifts had passed away.

And this is the thing that really concerns me

why write something in 56 A.D. that would be nullified 40 years later? Why then when they slapped together the New Testament (Muratorian fragment 170 A.D.) did they include the chapters of the bible that talk about current works of the spirit if they are "supposedly" dead? Help me make sense of hits please.

how to appease your god huh? and if there are multiple gods, are you sure you want to be worshiping the one that destroys humans that he doesnt like, sends them to hell, or ruins their life to prove a point to other gods(the book of jobe). yes he gets everything back x2 but do you really think having your family killed and replaced is a happy life? be careful who you worship. you choose your god out of fear, not love, which is something the bible tells you is a sin in the first place. satan worshippers actually have more logic in their beliefs than christians. atleast think about what i said before yelling at me please

There may be multiple gods but there is only one true living God and those satanic worshipers you brought up will wake up from their graves to find themselves staring straight into his eyes.

Peace.

the gifts were necessary to complete scripture and the church.

when what is perfect was complete, the gifts ceased.

this does not mean that God doesn't speak to people or the Holy Spirit does not move.

their are gifts still in operation.

tongues, prophets and word of knowledge have ceased.

That man is changing lives and is on the forefront for the this next wave of revival. The school he runs, Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, is bolstering 1800+ new 1st year students and has as many as 800+ returning for their second year.

His book Moral Revolution attacks that nasty spirit of sexual immorality that the enemy loves to use to influence this world.

Yeah bro, he's a satanist, attacking his own kingdom.
