Chrit User ID: 15366081 United States 09/04/2012 08:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a reason credit card company’s target students and it is the same reason congress repealed FFELP. People blindly look at this and are foolish enough to think the "government" is trying to help them when the reality of the situation is truly grave for our children if we let them do this. Quoting: Chrit You are already required to apply for FAFSA by 99.9% of all schools no matter how much money you have to pay for your education. Student loans are $125 billion dollar a year industry that the government runs as a monopoly! They are not being nice, they are planning ahead, years ahead. This is about debt slavery that can never be paid back because they "forgave" your debt but they will never forgive your children’s debt. They know forgiving your debt will make them LOTS more money in the long run. You are being set up! Nice job Chrit... I wish more people would start connecting the dots and seeing the 'system' for what it is.... This is meant to raise tuition costs so as to in the future force people to have to take out loans to pay for schooling. Quoting: Chrit Every single year tuition goes up automatically based on the amount of student aid available. If the government offers 8% more next year then tuition will go up 8% People have to realize schools raises the tuition every year to take the extra government money finical aid offers. You are being set up, once the debt is wiped there will be a run on the schools and prices will skyrocket even higher & this is exactly what they want to happen. Wait till you see the new interest rates on future student loans if they do this. After I saw this post I stopped reading. Why? Because you sir, nailed it. Unfortunately, people don't seem to understand this concept. Its the same thing that's happening with medical costs. Anytime the government guarantees to pay a certain amount, guess how much the (school, hospital, business, etc.) is going to charge for that service? Trying to educate people, I appreciate the bumps. Funny how people are carful and worry everyone is out to screw them till they hear “debt forgiveness” then the blinders go on and they somehow think they will end up on top. But the truth must be known before it is too late. There is no such thing as a free lunch, when they offer you one there is always a catch. Very sad. I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23163142 United States 09/04/2012 08:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read the Act. It looks like another win for the banks. A person only qualifies if their income is no more than 50% above the poverty line. Then that person has to pay 1/12 of 10% of their loan each month. If they miss a payment, they pop out of the program and go back into regular payments. The problem is that people who make just above the poverty limit are very, very financially unstable, with low level jobs that don't last ten years. I predict 99.9% of the people who apply will fail. Failure means that all the payments made become purely interest. So in the end, the person who applies under the program is worse off. Another bad deal for the student, good deal for banks. In the end, as I have always said, don't borrow money to go to school. If you can't afford it in this country - move. |

I'm sorry for all you anal retentives that don't think that the country should pay for educating the children, but I do. We had 12 years of free education for the children of America since the 30's or 40's and now it's time to step up the program to include college or votech. At the same time, I would also lower the funds available to schools and to teachers because they are overpaid. |

There is NO such thing as a 'free' ride. This is a power play, a control mechanism, and worst of all, yet another tool for the ENSLAVEMENT of our progeny. Please, PLEASE try to pull yourself out of the chemical fog for a moment and use critical thinking. "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you" The above words should strike terror in the hearts of all within earshot. |

KungPowMeowMeow User ID: 11092695 United States 09/04/2012 09:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't argue about people owning up to their debts, if you sign, you pay. But its getting to the point that the middle class cannot afford an education. Yes, in a perfect world everyone would be a lawyer, a doctor, a bioengineer and make hundreds of thousands each year. But keep in mind, we still need teachers (who make little above the poverty level in my state), and nurses, and social workers. They don't make that kind of money and college costs the same for them. What may end up happening is that people won't go to school to be teachers, nurses, ect because-being responsible for their debts-will realize that it isn't worth borrowing the money for that career choice. Who will teach your kids and care for you then? Another thing I found disgusting when I was in school is the amount of "aid" provided to people who have NO business being in college in the first place. Daily I saw those that barely passed high school getting a free ride to a university because they were a "minority" or had a baby when they were 13. They couldn't speak in proper English, but here's a full ride plus spending money for higher education. Does that make sense? Soon these will be the only people that can afford to go to school, because they actually get Uncle Sam's money in their pocket for being enrolled and the school gets government kickbacks for them being on the books. So this goes back to "if you can't afford it, you don't go to college." Why is it more fair for some ghetto rat with a GED to go to school scott free, but probably will never graduate and not a decent middle class student who can contribute back to society? Why are you willing to support one's education and not the other? Just think about it. Last Edited by KungPowMeowMeow on 09/04/2012 09:20 PM "Fortune, honour, beauty, youth are but blossoms dying.
