"White Horse" Prophecy about a Mormon saving the constitution when it hangs by a thread and hardly anything here about that????
REALLY???...I just heard about this...so there is some Mormon Prohpecy thing from the 1800's about how the US Constitution will be "Hanging by a thread" and some Mormon elder comes to power and saves it and the United states?

Does anyone else think that is at least a little bit interesting considering the actual real events that currently are and have been happening?

Now I'm not real uber religious, Yes I do believe in god, typical Catholic who might go to church for Christmas and Easter...."Part timer" I guess...lol...I always thought it was most important to have a personal level relationship with God and live your life as a decent person than anything else, always maintained that "No one really knows" about God, the afterlife, anything...and that's why it's called "Faith" because nothing concerning God is ever going to be scientifically proven as fact, you have to want to believe it, taken on faith, and the only people who really DO know?...they ain't talkin cause they're DEAD..lol...

It seems to me that Mitt Romney, a Mormon, isn't as governed by his religion as say a Santorum or Bachman are...saying my Christian faith, my Christian faith, as a Christian I whatever, every 5 minutes...dude...God isn't going to wing lightning bolts down on your ass if you lighten up on something...really...I don't think he wants to micro manage every little thing and it seems to me that he lightened up quite a bit after he had a kid...so maybe there can be a tad less of that old testiment fire and brimstone smote people stuff over some technicality, ummkay?....especially when it comes to Govt.

Romney doesn't seem to me to be locked in a box when it comes to some religious ideology. He hasn't snuffed out abortion for instance, when he could have at least stomped the hell out of it as Governor of Mass, which is a sore point for some of the more religious types. My position on that has always been reduce the need or want and reduce the number of abortions, not make it illegal...hasn't that question already been decided?...move on and reduce the number of abortions. No we don't need to be paying for free abortions with taxpayer dollars and we also don't need to be paying to supply people with free birth control either. Stop acting like getting pregnant is some frikkin mystical science that no one understands...if it wasn't figured out right after we figured out how to make fire?...then it was damn close...Don't fuck the chick or put a rubber on your dick, duh, costs like 10 fuckin cents so grow the fuck up and shut the fuck up already about some "womens health war" bullshit and get the fuck over it already...it's not the religious question of the century or any other thing that is so monumental.

So Romney doesn't appear to wear his religion on his sleeve like some of the other politicians do. He certainly hasn't governed so when he did have the chance to. However...if there is some Mormon Prophecy about a church elder riding in to save the constitution when it's "hanging by a thread"?...wouldn't that be at least some sort of positive religious driving force factor?...it's got be a click or two better than destruciton apockylips world on fire four horseman croakin the dog fuck out of everything at least a little bit...lol..right?...maybe we can hold that one off for few years..at least!...

I find the whole thing pretty fascinating, at least at some level and that it directly mentions the constitution, that there is love for it and that the main Mormon dude Joseph Smith said, "I love the Constitution; it was made by the inspiration of God and it will be preserved and saved by the efforts of the White Horse, and by the Red Horse who will combine in its defense "...the "RED" horse?....the color of the Republican party?...Yeah I know the Mormons are a "modern religion" that was formed in the 1800's and of course were aware that the Constitution existed and didn't "predict" that, but still this whole "Prophecy" seems pretty keyed into the current issues of today.

Yeah I know they got some whacky shit too, holy underpants or whatever, but ALL religions do...Jewish people got them beenie hats and the hardcore ones got some real nutty outfits...Catholics got Pope and Bishop hats...Mooselimbs...don't EVEN get started on their crazy gear...all religions have some sort of old timey weirdo stuff going on whether it's the garb or the ceremony, but at least the Mormons don't seem to lighting Goats on fire or doing human sacrifices or any other way whacked junk...lol...so they ride around on bikes with a white button shirt and tie and pass out some literature, that's not really too bad....at least it ain't like VooDoo witch doctor shit...lol..!!!

Here's some links and quotes about the "White horse Prophecy"...Seems the Mormans don't take it real ultra seriously, that it's not a part of "Church Doctrine", but it's still out there and comes from the main heavy duty dude...

Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, p. 182, Brigham Young, February 18, 1855

Brethren and sisters, our friends wish to know our feelings towards the Government. I answer, they are first-rate, and we will prove it too, as you will see if you only live long enough, for that we shall live to prove it is certain; and when the Constitution of the United States hangs, as it were, upon a single thread, they will have to call for the "Mormon" Elders to save it from utter destruction; and they will step forth and do it.

We love the Constitution of our country; it is all we could ask; though in some few instances there might be some amendments made which would better it.

Never heard of the prophecy, but I'm not a Mormon either. It is worth noting that if it was writen in 1855 that would put it about 7 years before the Civil War. It would be easy to think there was a constitutional crisis looming as the southern states were about to seceed.

... of course back in the 1800's Mormons also thought black people would eventually turn white if they became Mormons. Just sayin'.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

It also supposedly came out well over 20 years prior the civil war began..and Josepth Smith died 16 years before it began in 1844...So how it was written 11 years AFTER he was dead?...maybe he was resurected...lol....he must've been pretty stinky!

At BYU Romney was only half jokingly called "The One Mighty and Strong.”

To a non-Mormon, non-religious person like myself who believes in separation of Church and State this is pretty creepy and worrisome.

It is an interesting coincidence. Our constitution is clearly in tatters on the Supreme court floor, the current occupant of the Whitehouse never recognized it in the first place, and both he and the cheif justice of SCOTUS flubbed the oath of office the first time. Now at this specific time the top challanger to be the next president is the nations first ever Mormon?

Now, say his name really fast. Mitt Romney sounds an aweful lot like Moroni if you say it fast enough.

Holy crap. Does this mean we're all gonna get Mormon cooties?!

I also wasn't aware that the Joseph Smith dude ran for President as an independant in 1844 and his campaign ended when he was assinated in prison...

Other nominations

Joseph Smith, Jr., mayor of Nauvoo, Illinois, and founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, ran as an independent. He proposed the redemption of slaves by selling public lands and decreasing the size and salary of the United States Congress; the closure of prisons; the annexation of Texas, Oregon, and parts of Canada; the securing of international rights on high seas; free trade; and the re-establishment of a national bank.[2] The campaign ended when he was assassinated while in prison on June 27, 1844.

It's too bad that there can never be a POTUS with any power to do anything to save the 'Constitution'.

It would be great to blame NAFTA on Clinton, or Obamacare on Obama or the Patriot Act on Bush...

But they didn't write any of that legislation.

I wonder what Romney WON'T write, but will be attributed to him? (GOOD OR BAD)

I read a prophecy once that said that men are gullible creatures who need to point at a spot on the wall... so give them a spot.

Do you think that Romney DOESN'T represent hundreds of corporate interests like the others? Surely HE represents an "ideal" - Hope? Change? "Conservatism"? 'Liberty!'?

A spot on the wall. A puppet. Pointing at him for blame or credit is pointing at hundreds of selfish interests just like every fake representative.

SHR, I'm glad you need to believe in someone to convince you that your choice, that your ideal of your 'party' is valid - and perhaps matters.

There is no party. There are no representatives. There is a shadow of a nation with a logo on it's lapel. The representative republic was high-jacked and replaced with a corporate fiction - that is the story of interest. The story to pursue.

Great Salon article on the subject.....

When Mitt Romney received his patriarchal blessing as a Michigan teenager, he was told that the Lord expected great things from him. All young Mormon men —the “worthy males” of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,as it is officially known —receive such a blessing as they embark on their requisite journeys as religious missionaries. But at 19 years of age, the youngest son of the most prominent Mormon in American politics —a seventh-generation direct descendant of one of the faith’s founding 12 apostles—Mitt Romney had been singled out as a destined leader....

Section 85 of the Mormon Bible:

And it shall come to pass, that I, the Lord God, will send one mighty and strong, holding the sceptre of power in his hand, clothed with light for a covering, whose mouth shall utter words, eternal words; while his bowels shall be a fountain of truth, to set in order the house of God, and to arrange by lot the inheritances of the Saints, whose names are found, and the names of their fathers, and of their children enrolled in the book of the law of God: (Verse 7.)

Yes, but Joseph Smith was not referring to that white horse.

He made up a different one.

Look at the bottom of the page. Apparently there has been some post about this but I didn't read them at the time as it didn't sound pertinent from the thread titles.

I wonder if most Mormons believe this or not.

Would like more discussion on this.

Few of them yes, but as I said, there doesn't seem to be much of a whole lot that ever really got any traction about it.

Yeah, and guess what Joseph Smith's platform was?

He was an independent commander in chief of an “army of God” advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a Mormon-ruled theocracy.

So, give us a source for where he said that.

The Salon article is must reading.

Romney avoids mentioning it, but Smith ran for president in 1844 as an independent commander in chief of an “army of God” advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a Mormon-ruled theocracy. Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that “they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.” Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church. He had predicted the emergence of “the one Mighty and Strong” —a leader who would “set in order the house of God” —and became the first of many prominent Mormon men to claim the mantle.

Walter Veith says that the Jesuits created Mormonism......I believe him.

With Romney's pick of Paul Ryan for VP.......I can fairly safely say we have a prime Jesuit connection here.hf
Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. You can feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love. What is God? The Eternal One Life underneath all the forms of life. What is love? To feel the presence of that One Life deep within yourself and within all creatures. To be it. Therefore, all love is the love of God.

Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to die before you die - and find that there is no death.
