In the second season of "Lost" the castaways find a hatch leading to a bunker containing an incredibly strong electromagnetism generator.

In order to keep the machine from destroying the world, the castaways must enter the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42.

The sum of which is 108.

They must enter these numbers every 108 minutes over and over and over again in order to save the world.

-A mala usually has beads for 108 repetitions of a mantra.

The Mayans not only hold 108 as a sacred number, but they too believe the universe was created in 7 days, and did bleve this well before there were any Christians, Jews, or Muslims around.


On the calendar template, there are 9 levels until the what they called the golden age was to occur.

Each level is divided into 13 sections equally (7 days & 6 nights)

So every shift is the line between the 13 sections, so there are 12 shifts per section.

12 shifts multiplied by nine levels = 108

And that is when the calendar ceases.
