ever fill a sink to the top with water and then slowly pull the plug?

the water and everything in it stays steady for a time then it all starts getting pulled towards the drain.. the closer it all gets to the drain the faster and faster it gets until it all begins to spiral, then it accelerates faster and faster yet again until it all completely drains away down the hole

that's exactly what it all feels like...

When I was a kid, maybe 10 or 12 years old (I'm 63) the way we were taught that you could count seconds without a clock was say "one thousand one, one thousand two...etc. (I've also heard saying "Mississippi one, Mississippi two) It worked, and had tried it many times with various clocks and never failed to work out. I read time was speeding up a while back so the other day I tried the old method and much to my surprise the seconds on my watch went faster. I tried it on other clocks...same results. By the time I count to ten seconds, 11 seconds have passed. Try it yourself.

Indeed even scientist say there isn't actually any time according to quantum physics. It is mere impossibility. Our brains construct the concept of time but it is an illusion. Also time is relative, lets say your a fly that percieves world much slower than us so hes day is like a month to us. Time is not only relative for our senses but in space too. You cannot speed up something that is relative but you can only speed up a relation between times.

Are we? Anyone else feeling this? As well as feeling mentally and physically exhausted (but in an usual way) time seems to be passing in larger and larger chunks its wired days are feeling like hours weeks like days months like weeks (maybe slight exaggeration but you know what I mean). A great sense of something is coming? Anyone else?

Me and the hubs were talking about this the other day. We both can't freakin BELIEVE it's already the middle of September. It seems like just yesterday we were talking about the kids being on spring break....and now it's September. What happened to June, July and August?? I know we went thru them because they are marked off on my calendar...but I can't seem to remember the days passing.

Almost like you go to sleep and wake up and it's a month later.

Freakin weird.

Matthew 24 KJV

1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before. 26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other

Ok, that's bizarre. I tried it to and I could only count to 24 seconds and the clock had ticked off 30 seconds. Watching the second hand on my clock and it really DOES seem to be moving faster.

Re: Time speeding up? Until point zero? Are we getting closer?
Can anyone else remember when they first learned to read time on an analog clock? I can remember being real young, and seeing analog clocks - and not yet knowing how to read them - certainly my perception of time has a particular frame at this point. I was obsessed with always asking other what time it was...

Then, I can remember when I learned to read an analog clock feeling so empowered. I could finally keep track of time myself - I no longer had to ask others what time it was! I can remember playing a game, where I would try to feel what time it was, and then look at the clock and see how close I would be. Certainly my perception of time would move into a totally different frame at this point.

Now I can feel again, my relations to time are totally different, this relationship is changing, and it is speeding up. I understand that time does not actually exist, but rather only our perceptions of time, and yes I will tell you for sure these perceptions of time are changing.

So now, here is our question, what is it, in our perception that has changed, to make us experience time differently - this time seems to be universally perceived as speeding up.

We can all feel it.

Re: Time speeding up? Until point zero? Are we getting closer?
1. Time will appear to speed up as we approach Zero Point. A 24 hour day will seem to be about 16 hours or less. Remember the Schumann Resonance (or "heart beat" of Mother Earth) has been 7.8 cycles for thousands of years, but has been rising since 1980. It is at about 12 cycles at present. It stops at 13 cycles.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19424931

I always find this quote about the proverbial "24 hour day feeling like 16 hours" really interesting because before I ever did any research into the possibility of time speeding up, this is the exact conclusion I had come to -- that if I had to try to quantify my experience, I'd say the average day felt like it had been shrunk down to about 16 hours. I'm just curious to see what everyone else's experience has been. For everyone who's been posting in this thread or felt drawn to this thread because something about it resonates with you, what does it feel like to you if you had to put an actual number on it? Does a 16 hour day feel about right?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2004213
16 seems like an incredible shrinkage of time but i have to admit, it does feel something like that. it's surreal..

Why does the week go by so fast? HOw can summer already be over?
Could be that life is faster for them today? The old, your justing getting older thing, just doesn't explain it anymore though.
