Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
Rescue Remedy by Bach Flower Essences is AWESOME

Valerian

Calms Forte by Hylands homeopathy formula

Chammomile tea

Simple meditation focusing on nasal breathing

Stretching exercises

Incense

Massage/chiropractic

Purchase and wear a Q-link necklace - I refuse to remove mine after what it did for me

Prayer with the laying on of hands to cast out anxiety and other bad spiritual influences - truly helpful if you have faith

Journaling

Exercise

Remove unhealthy things from the diet, avoid caffeine, green tea, coffee, chocolate

Take calcium, magnesium, and grape seed extract with resveratrol

My number one recommendation of all time ever in my life is neural feedback - it is totally amazing beyond description, does something akin to training the mind and body to return to the peace and carelessness of childhood, if you can imagine that

Google it, there are many others, but the ones above are the ones I'm personally familiar with or have used

Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
Oh, Jesus.

There's no such thing as "General Anxiety Disorder". As much trouble as your wife is having, please don't unconsciously subscribe or put stock in this label.

Your wife's body is responding to things that are obviously bothering her, which can range from anything to anything; job, money, social life, exercise, etc.

I think she will experience a huge difference from some light weight-lifting. You are challenging the body's fear response in the exact opposite way. You can't feel scared and strong at the same time.

The trick really -- you have TO DO it. Not put it off. No matter what.

Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
Good for you to decide no on the prescription meds--just the side effects are enough to give anyone more anxiety.

Quick and Simple one liner cures that have worked for me.

1. Niacin, (B3) works right away--take the (Flush) kind, it causes a Histamine reaction--flushing of the skin--dilation of the blood vessels under the skin--itches, but only for a few minutes--up to a half hour. Not, bad when you know what to expect. You can build up to a therapeutic dose by starting with 100mg 2 to 3 times a day, then 200mg, 300mg and then 500mg.

A therapeutic dose would be around 3000 mg per day, but it has a good effect even at 500mg per day.

Niacin is inexpensive, it is mostly sold as the "no flush" kind, but that has had its chemical structure changed and can damage the liver.

A person can ramp up the dose in a week or go for a stronger dose--it is harmless under 3000mg a day.

If you can't find it at your grocery store or drug store you can get it from Amazon--

[link to www.amazon.com]

this ^^^ is the right kind, not the slow release--keep it simple--and only 8cents per pill (500mg)

so....even at 3000mg a day--still only 48cents a day and it will lower your bad cholesterol, help depression and cure acne.

disclaimer--I am not a medical professional-- this is only what worked for me and others--search on line-- lots of info out there.

Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
Don't buy anything "pre-packaged". Even at health stores. You are paying for the fancy packaging and you may or may not have additives in it and very little of the actual herb. Buy some loose dried passion flower and some damiana (both found at herb stores). Mix a teasponn of each in a cup of boiling water, let steep for 10 minutes, strain and drink.

She will be very calm and also alert, it doesnt produce a "stoned" effect, just calms you down and relaxes you.

You might Check Amazon for the damiana. It was incredibly affordable last year when someone suggested it here.

stay the fuck away from the doctor's medications!!! the pharmaceutical companies don't give a shit for your wife. the doctor's really work for them. they will get her hooked on the medication and create the real anxiety monster. go to a natural herbalist!!! no depression pills either!! stay away from all of that and keep protecting your wife even from the doctors!!!

Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
Also quick and simple and inexpensive--

Chammomile tea--very good before bed to help one to sleep (don't add sugar)

Exercise--even as simple as taking a walk together--changes brain chemicals.

Magnesium--Mineral pills, epsom salt baths, spray oil--all inexpensive and critical to your health.

Thread: Secret antidote to stress.........Magnesium in Neurological Diseases and Emotions

Please note, the four things I mentioned are quick, inexpensive and proven to work--but they won't solve her problem. They are like meds in that they deal with symptoms.

If you are willing to spend more time and money and get to the cause of the anxiety I have more suggestions.

First--we are electrical and chemical beings. Think of a human like you would a fine race car. It isn't as simple as using the right fuel, the engine has to be able to burn it.

If you are missing any of the basic vitamin/minerals needed to operate your system over time things will go awry.

When things in the "system" are no longer working properly even the right fuel is useless.

The nutrients people are missing because of factory farming and poor diets and lifestyle habits like stress, drinking, sugar, coffee....

The most common ones missing--that people are short on are--

Magnesium--epsom salt, or a chelate pill

Vitamin D--Bio Tech D3-50 (or 1/2 hour of sun a day)

Niacin and all the B vitamins (b complex 50 2x day)

Omega 3 oils--fish oil, cod liver oil (Carlson Norwegian)

Iodine Iodoral--most soils are depleted of this essential nutrient

Zinc Picolinate

But....if you are willing to get to one of the most common causes of mental and physical ailments you will need to heal the "GUT".

In my opinion the best and most documented medical researched work has come from Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD a neurologist from Russia who moved to the UK to work and had a son who had autism. She went back to school, got a masters in Nutrition and cured her son.

This woman is brilliant, she then helped thousands of others cure mental and physical conditions with her protocols.

Her book is "GUT & PSYCHOLOGY SYNDROME", her website is for the GAPS diet--

[link to www.gapsdiet.com]

You can follow her plan for free just from the information on the website.

In a nutshell--many things can destroy the flora in your gut. Being born to a mother with unbalanced gut flora, antibiotics, birth control pills, vaccines, and more--but those are the most common. (and eating grains)--gluten

The "bad" flora--yeasts and more overpopulate and give off toxins. They excrete alcohol and neuro toxins that damage your body and brain. They feed off the carbs, sugars and grains you eat. They cause "leaky gut syndrome" and contribute to most physical and mental disorders.

Seems hard to believe, but her results, and the evidence is overwhelming.

This is why most diets help people somewhat--it is what they eliminate--

Most diets will have you not eat white flour, sugar, simple starches.....

I fought this for a long time as I felt in my heart I shouldn't eat meat. But soy, beans, grains all made me sick and gave me brain fog.

This is why people thrive on the "Paleo" diets, and carb restricted diets, the raw food diets.....all eliminate gluten--which our ancestors for millions of years never ate.

Her diet the GAPS diet is a bit more scientific. First you have to heal your gut and the best thing for this healing--broths, made with bones and tissues--whole chickens, beef bones, .......easy to digest and full of easy to absorb nutrients.

The diet then progresses into adding in foods, healthy oils, meats, easy to digest foods without grains or starches.

The list of what this healing diet has cured is amazing--Depression, Anxiety, Autism, ADD, ADHD, MS, .......all of the diseases that are caused by toxic overload damage.

The symptoms of a damaged gut are many and most think they are normal--allergies, headaches, exema, ear infections, congestion, gas, bloating, lose stools or constipation, athletes foot, ringworm, joint aches and pains.....

So I have to over ride everything MSM has taught me--

Saturated fats are bad--

Meat is bad

soy is good (not)

eating lots of whole grains is good for you.....

What have I eaten so far today?--3 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon and some raw walnuts. My brain is screaming at me to stop...these foods will kill me and cause a heart attack any minute---

But my blood sugar problems and brain fog are gone, I'm not hungry and I feel good.hfhfhf even though I am a Vegan at heart.

Some things that can contribute to EMF pollution in your home...

Microwave, cell phones, near cell phone tower, in home wifi, refridgerator motor, sleeping near extension cords, electric clocks, lamps, electric blankets, fans, air conditioners, the new CFL light bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, remote phones--wireless.

Anything with a motor, anything electrical should be at least 5 feet away from you when you sleep.

lots of info on this--does bother a lot of people. Just moving your bed and moving some electronics to the other side of the room help.

Keep in mind even when the lamp etc, is turned off the elec current stills goes through the cord to the switch.

Re: Natural remedies for anxiety
My wife has been diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder but both of us agree that we do NOT want her on prescription meds. Anyone out there suffering from anxiety disorder have any natural remedies that work for them?
 Quoting: Scriptd

It's caused by a neurotransmitter imbalance - calming inhibitory neurotransmitters are depleted allowing the excitatory ones to run amok causing rapid heart rate and a long list of other symptoms that seem crazy.

Amino acide therapy helps restore the depleted inhibitory neurotransmitters and it all goes away. L-Theanine, 5-HTP, Omega 3's along with vitamin C and plenty of protein every day. She needs to stay on this therapy for months. She will feel better almost right away as L-theanine crosses the blood brain barrier in minutes and instantly supports neuortransmitters than can be used as inhibitory ones by the brain. It can shut down a panic attack. Once the 5_htp starts kicking and your brain starts replenishing the inhibitory neurotransmitters naturally, the anxiety just disappears.

It's natural, there are no side effects but you need to take lots of omega 3's to prevent mood swings.

This is what I did to get rid of my anxiety and panic attacks.
