The government there threatened to take control over their central bank aswell a year ago. The EU was furious and they had to retreat for now, and got punished with much higher interest on their national debt compared to any other indebted EU country for having the nerve to go against the agenda!

Viktor Orban, their prime minister, is eastern europes answer to UK's Nigel Farage and USA's Ron Paul.

Hungarians should take note of this, despite everything there, they are one of the few EU countries that have a good man in charge.

Hungary Just Flipped The Bird To The IMF Over Bailout Terms

The move by Orbán is indicative of rising hostility toward austerity measures attached to aid conditions in Europe as the euro area plunges into recession.

In another potential hurdle to the aid talks, news website Bruxinfo reported on Wednesday that the European Commission was preparing a legal challenge against Hungary's financial transaction tax, a revenue mainstay of the 2013 budget.

The Hungarian Forint is tanking against the U.S. dollar on the news

Re: Hungary rejects IMF
I'm afraid it's not the end of the story yet...
2 years ago, when Orbán's party was elected (with 67% if I remember correctly, but even if not, they have 2/3 majority in our parliament anyways - which scared the shit out of the maoist EU leaders) so 2 years ago, first thing he said, that we don't want a new IMF loan as long as he is in power. so guess what - the already existing loans got way more expensive to pay off - our debt rose a lot because of the worse exchange rates. he tried to still pay it off, he even did many 'unorthodox' measured which sparked a lot of hatred against him, but because our forint was doing so bad, he couldn't manage to get better funds from the market. so then again, even though he said he doesn't want IMF, about half a year ago, the government turned to the EU and IMF anyways... he was called a hypocrite because of it, talks are still going on with the IMF delegates, and the conditions are not clear yet.
so I would wait a few days with this. although I would be very happy if he really said no to IMF now
