Atheists and Agnostics: Christian would appreciate input on burst of energy released from body.
I'm hoping someone who practices deep relaxation techniques can explain something I have been experiencing this past week as I continue to work on prayer and spirituality.

First I want to state that I am a Christian above all other beliefs.

Because Christ taught us the importance of prayer to God through him I practice this commandment daily:

Love God with all of my heart and soul and love my neighbors as myself.

I am the result of miracles through prayer and faith in God and my fellow human being. Truthfully, I shouldn't have even been here the past three years.

During this time I have become even more greatly convicted that God is alive inside all of us and will come to life the moment one asks. I wish more people believed this.

This past month my prayers have become even more lengthy and intense.

About a month ago I had a life-changing prayer session that lasted several hours. Until I looked at the clock I thought it had been only minutes.

The details are personal but I will share that He wants me to further understand other people's beliefs so that I can better glorify His Name.

I am taking this slowly and have decided my first lesson should be to learn about the practice of deep relaxation and breathing.

I started this lesson about 2 weeks ago and this past week I have become very curious about what occurs to my body as I go into a deep relaxation.

At first I didn't understand what was occurring and one time I almost thought I was in the process of dying.

Because of my faith I do not fear death and so after the incident I continued to explore what happened. It has happened every time I "relax" since and I'm hoping someone can offer a reason this is occurring.

There is a moment after deep breathing and relaxation when I begin to feel lifeless inside my body. I can't really even feel that I'm breathing; I just know that I am.

After that I can feel small bursts of energy in my muscles as though my muscles are releasing pent up energy.

These small "bursts" occur in my legs, arms, hands and even my face.

I wish I could describe it better. I'm hoping someone knows what I'm talking about.

Finally, there is one big burst of energy throughout my entire body starting in the very center of my stomach and shooting outwards in all directions.

After that I fall into a deep sleep.

I'm sure most will not understand this but even if one person can explain what I am experiencing I will really appreciate it.

hf

Thanks, Miggy

Totally normal reaction to deep relaxation. You can maintain consciousness by paying attention to your thought and pushing through instead of going to sleep. That release, the tingling and lack of bodily awareness will eventually be followed with what feels like shaking or as if your body is vibrating, then a pop. Once you lose awareness of your body is when the fun begins. Enjoy!hf

I had this as a child while praying. There are some Catholic saints who experience what they call 'ectasy'. I think it may be something like that. Happens when you merge with Christ consciousness.

Hi Miggy! As you know, I'm a Christian too and love the Lord. I haven't felt what you describe, however quite often I have intense vibrations all over my body. I feel it most intensley in my arms. I don't know what it is, but have you ever felt it? I know some people that also feel it describe themselves as New-agers. I really don't know what to make of it!

The final energy burst is in/on/near your solar plexus.

If you can visualize the energy burst as light, do so and try to put yourself into that light - into the energy, and follow it.

You say you fall asllep after the last burst - is it knocking you unconscious?

Stay awake and become the light.

God is light and energy. You have been granted a spark.

Thank God for showing you the light, then sleep.

Thank all of you for your comments thus far.

Mutant, you describe what I am feeling when you say it's a "pop". Now that I know it's going to occur I pay attention while the little "pops". The big one occurs a minute or so later and then I immediately sleep.

This hasn't been a problem yet since I have gone without good sleep for a long time and I welcome it.

But when I decide NOT to go to sleep I'm not sure how to maintain this awareness without over-thinking myself back into my awakened state.

Plus, I want to begin to merge this with my prayers to God.

Again, thank you all for your words.

I know a bit of what you may be experiencing.
I'm able to leave my body, though some times it happens unintentionally but before it happens i'm in deep relaxation to the point i can't feel my body then it would get something like an electric type of buzz penetrate up and down my body. You won't mistake the vibrations one bit. They are strong and travel up and down, you can even make them go faster or slower. Believe me when you feel them you'll know.

hope that helps a little, just trying to describe the vibrations that come after such relaxation and numbness of the body.

grizzy Are you sure about this. The reason I ask is that all other 'religious beliefs' are false beliefs. And when the nitty comes to the gritty there ain't really no nice way of putting it. Jesus Christ would be kind and patent with some people, but with others He didn't hesitate to lay into them.

If spreading the word causes offense so what, that's their fault not yours. Your job is to spread the word to as many people as possible and let the Lord take it from there.

Take a Muslim for example, the fact is that if they had a heart attack and died in front of you the odds are very high that they will have died in their sins and be bound to hell. Perhaps not, obviously some individuals might be forgiven by the Lord but you dare not assume that, although you can hope for it.

ALLAH HAD NO SON... [link to www.chick.com]

I'll be frank with you, you say "There is a moment after deep breathing and relaxation when I begin to feel lifeless inside my body." I think your into some kind of Yoga and that there is a devil whispering a load of crap into your ears.

2Cr 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Hi, my dear Mercy!

I'm not sure I feel what could be described as vibrations. It's more of a steady hummmmmmmmm.

I also believe this might be what some people who consider themselves "New Age" experience. I have also experienced lucid dreams.

What I am experiencing during relaxation is completely different than what I experience during prayer or in dream.

The whole reason why I even considered exploring this is because I would come out of prayer knowing that God and I had been very close but I couldn't remember what was conveyed or what He desired me to do.

Last month I finally asked Him if He would allow me to fully remember our time during prayer. I have no idea why I always thought this was such a big request because He appeared to think it wasn't any big deal when I asked.

Before that I simply trusted that His Word would be conveyed in and by me through His guidance.

But actually coming out of prayer knowing and remembering was awesome and it has given me even more strength than I'd ever had previously.

Much of what He conveyed to me I didn't like hearing. But still it has grounded me to know what His Will is and what my Purpose is.

I love you, dear Mercy.

Hello Miggy,

First of all I would like to tell you that what you are experiencing during your relaxation practice has nothing to do with what religion you practice or what your beliefs are. Also what you are experiencing isn't something that is good or is evil.

It is a regular process that everyone's body goes through as they fall asleep every night. The reason people do not notice it is because most fall asleep before the physical signs are felt.

Basically as you are practicing your relaxation, the body goes deeper and deeper into relaxation until your body falls asleep. But your mind is still awake. Some of the things you are going to experience are:

-you might feel a falling sensation
-you might feel as if you are paralyzed ("sleep pralysis")
-you might feel tingling sensations
-you might feel as if you are floating or your arms/legs are floating
-you might see images
-you might hear sounds
-you might just fall asleep
-you might feel very strong vibrations as if an earthquake is happening

All of this is normal. We just don't experience these things because every night as you go to sleep, your mind shuts off first, and THEN your body.

Ok now for the tricky part. All of these symptoms are precursors to what is known as astral projection, out of body experience (OBE or OOBE), and lucid dreaming.

These things ARE NOT "new age" or religious, or whatever. People just give a label to what they are experiencing based on what their beliefs are.

The tingling sensations you are feeling is what asians refer to as chi. Indians or Hindus refer to as prana. It is a flow of energy. OBE practitioners call it the etheric body or the energy body. In the end it doesn't matter what everyone calls it. It is there. It is part of everyone's body. This flow of energy can be controlled using your breath.

If you keep practicing deep relaxation I think you will inevitably have an out of body experience. You might think you are dying, but you're not. It's normal. Once out of your body you will have the ability to travel anywhere with just your thought.

Again there is nothing good or bad about this. It's not voodoo, it's not the devil, it's not evil, etc. It is a normal process of the physical body.

If you want to learn more about it research these terms:

astral projection, out of body experience (OBE/OOBE), lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, etc

I hope I have helped you.

Re: Atheists and Agnostics: Christian would appreciate input on burst of energy released from body.

Yes, Anonymous. This helps me a lot.

I just KNEW someone on here could define what I am experiencing in terms I understand. You just did.

Thank you so much!

PS. Is this akin to what a person experiences while dying and in the last moments of life?
Be Still and know that I am God.

But can you take control of where you are projected? I only want to be with God.
