Fleas are common transmitters of the plague." |

It's always been around, just at a low level. Seems like many more cases the last year or two though, possibly because of the changing climate opening up new areas where it can spread faster/better. Used to be seen more in southern states. But some guys just caught a tropical fish in OREGON, so what used to do better in the south is moving north. That includes Burmese pythons, and apparently plague too... |

If it is the plague we all know that our scientist remade it and probably released it just to see how many would die from it. Things are gonna get scary when someone catches the bubonic plague and it turns into the pneumonic plague, at which time spreading it around will require only a sneeze, no fleas required... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22939672 ...be afraid....the Plague has never been eliminated only limited due to sanitation, hygiene and medicine..I am 58 and every few years this story has popped up,it's true, but rare...some 3rd world location have always been on the edge of a full blown break out..luckily, every blood borne disease which has gone airborne must alter itself enough that the airborne strain is substantially weaker...so far :)..Outbreak,the book NOT the horrible film, should cause a chill down your spine..the real story of the CDC and others tracking the Ebola breakout in the 90's in Africa.. |

Quoting: MONSTER ...of course fleas remain on the host,at least for a while..and when it hops away it still has the virus it ingested..for example, the dying squirrel is bitten by a flea(s) and they live on it for a few days and then the squirrel dies..a few hours later,Mr.Flea leaves looking for a warm meal and lo and behold a little girl plops down on the grass and Mr. Flea has a new host and we have a case of the Plague. Now, I always thought nature/God whoever runs this place, was pretty smart...the Plague, like so many others-West Nile etc., doesn't kill the carrier !!!..Why the hell doesn't it kill the squirrel or mosquito ? Well, we know...something has to kill something else...you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here,,, |
