6 F-16's escorting plane observed over Albuquerque!
Was at the park with my kids and noticed 6 what looked like F-16s escorting a large plane. Never seen anything like that, and we are close to an air-force base. I observed this for just a few minutes and then they disappeared. What does it mean! Sorry just had to post this.

Might have been a tanker, or a hijacked jet.

Re: 6 F-16's escorting plane observed over Albuquerque!
I have a similarly odd story, but it happened a year ago.

I live 25 miles from LR AFB, the training center for C130s. Needless to say I can identify a C130 from its' engine noise as I've been seeing and hearing them daily all my life.

One night I heard a C130 sound, but it wasn't right at all. It was different altogether. I looked up and saw in the clear sky a C130 with no lights on. On each side of it was a helicopter with no lights on. Behind them was a helicopter that did have its' lights on. I'm fairly sure the choppers were all blackhawks. The sky was lit very well and the aircraft were easy to see. Their formation was very tight.

Well, seeing how the 150th Tacos are no longer flying out of Kirtland ( [link to en.wikipedia.org]
...I would say more than likely aircraft transit or training...what did the large plane look like?

Did it look like this?

or this?

There does appear to be alot of military movement lately across the US. Luke is home to F-16s. Nellis in NV is a training school house so they could be headed that way as well....

Good eye OP!

Looked more like the Kc10, thanks. One of my kids was in a wagon and lying down when he noticed it. BTW this child has broken his leg a second time from a trampoline, not a good thing for small children. Sometimes parents don't get it!

We are hearing a lot of activity at night, and tho it sounds odd, when we have cloud cover. They are extremely loud, but you never see a thing.

KC-10's are refueling aircraft. They were probably going to another base, and you know, jets need fuel.

Let me guess, you live in or around New Jersey?

They were in formation, 3 planes on each side. I just thought it looked more like they were escorting the bigger plane.

I have a similarly odd story, but it happened a year ago.

The sky was lit very well and the aircraft were easy to see. Their formation was very tight.
 Quoting: Erectus 13420334

The herc will of been flying at a slower speed in order for the choppers to keep up. Perhaps this is the noise difference.
