By the way, I have tried that. Getting off my arse and starting my own business, creating my own job etc. It is easier said than done. I have had to take up a part time job waitressing so I can keep my business going.

I have a virtual assistant business that covers everything from proofreading and sending out emails, to building mobile and web apps/games, to project and event management. I am a skilled person and can do a lot with a basic laptop and internet connection. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there with my skills and I have to compete with them. Any money that I make through my business goes back into advertising.

You say to get off our sorry arse and make ourselves more valuable to employers, may I ask what you do for a living and how much you get paid for it? Does your employer find you valuable? Just asking, because people who usually say stuff like that are usually jobless and sponge off their parents.

A house cannot be brought for under 450 thou in the suburbs in general ( would have to go well out, as in well past a hrs drive , you would not find any rental house ( note - dump ) for under $350 a week and would not even find a one bedroom highrise rental flat in the worst suburbs for less then $160 week now.

Minimum wage is pretty much what most people are on - ohhh add a extra $30 for a clerical worker, or maybe $50 for a secretary with multi skills.
