There is nothing wrong with questioning. Take nothing at face value, and question everything, including yourself.

The very olden wise statement is "Know yourself and to you be true". To many don't understand that this means there are elements within you that are not of yourself. This however does not extend to others as when you trully know yourself then knowing others is easy. It is the false shadows within the self that cause you to be blind to others motives and such. Ahhh, now I am loving your stuff again.
