Yes, they do feel good about it, because for Republicans, the poor are people who made "bad life choices" and therefore deserve their fate. They are unable to understand that "fate" is the operative word, and there is no one to make any "life choices" to begin with, for we are all simply acting out the will of Divine Intelligence, in which we have our true being.
