On a reasonable budget... Ive never been there.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3818533 The most beautiful scenery is in the San Juan mountains in Southwest CO around Telluride Try and rent a small house in Ouray. And take the "Million Dollar Highway" spellbinding Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1276561 THIS OP! Stay in Ouray. Awesome scenery. Quoting: Outland I agree completely. Ouray is "Switzerland of America" very scenic, victorian houses and has the famous Ouray Hot Springs Pool (a family friendly place). Hot springs in the area don't smell like "eggs" the way that Glenwood Springs or Pagosa Springs do. There is also Orvis Hot Springs, close-by in Ridgway which is a clothing optional pool (fewer kids) with indoor pools in case of inclement weather and natural outdoor pools. There is lithium in the water and that is reported to have healthful benefits. Both hot springs are about $12 per day for adults. The lodging is less expensive in Ouray/Ridgway/Montrose area than in places like Aspen or Telluride. but if you do go to Telluride be sure to ride the Gondola up the mountain. There is a Blues and Brews festival coming up in Telluride soon. The fall colors usually peak in the area around Ouray/Ridgway/Telluride the last week in September. There is also a vapor cave at the Weisbaden in Ouray, Box Canyon falls, the Beaumont Hotel and St. Elmo Hotel snd Bon Ton restaurant. If you happen to be in Ouray on a Sunday morning, check out the Bon Ton Sunday brunch especially if you enjoy eggs benedict!
