Contribution of public and private Social Security rises from 11% to 18%!!! The private sector workers and civil servants will spend more cash on Social Security.

The contribution will fall from 11% to 18%, seven percentage points that have expression already in the state budget for 2013. In contrast, companies will see their contribution down to 18%.

This was the main measure of austerity and fighting unemployment announced this evening by the Prime Minister.

In practice, the private sector starts to receive 13 annual salaries (not 14), since an increase of 7 percentage points in the Single Social Tax year end amounts to a complete salary.

In the Civil Service, the scheme will be as follows: Contributing over 7 percentage points per month for Social Security, measured in monetary terms is equivalent to one of the grants, subsidies and the second will be paid so diluted over the 12 months of the year. Hence Steps has made a point of clarifying "that the monthly income of the Civil Service is not changed compared to this year."

Already pensioners will continue to have the cut of two grants by the end of the assistance program.
