Owners Lose Possessions After Home Near Twentynine Palms Is Mistakenly Foreclosed
A crew broke into Alvin and Pat Tjosaas’ desert home and took everything after being directed by Wells Fargo to secure the structure.

The couple, however, didn’t have a mortgage on the home.

Alvin said the deputy sheriff said, “Good news, we know who took (your possessions)…Wells Fargo. Bad news, your stuff is all gone.”
All the married couple has now are three generations of memories.

Alvin, a retired mason, built the home with his father when he was a teenager..

“I know every inch, every rock…my mom mixed all the cement by hand,” he said.

Alvin and his wife would later bring their six children to their desert oasis.

“My little kids (would) come out here and their dresses were the same color as the wildflowers,” said Alvin.

A spokesman for Wells Fargo released a statement apologizing to the couple...

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:
Alan Isaacman
The People Vs Larry Flynt
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you've heard a lot here today and I won't try to go back over it all. But you have to go back in that room and make some decisions and there is one thing I want to make very clear to you before you do. I'm not trying to convince you that you should like what Larry Flynt does. I don't like what he does. But what I do like is... that I live in a country... where you and I can make that decision for ourselves. I like that I live in a country where I can pick up Hustler magazine... read it if I want... or throw it in the trash, if that's where I think it belongs. Or better yet I can express my opinion by not buying it. I like that right. I care about it. And you should care about it, too... because we live in a free country. We say that a lot, but sometimes we forget what that means, so listen again. We live in a free country. That is a powerful idea. That's a magnificent way to live. But there is a price for that freedom, which is that sometimes... we have to tolerate things that we don't necessarily like. So go back in that room... where you are free to think whatever you want to think... about Larry Flynt and Hustler magazine. But then ask yourselves if you want to make that decision for the rest of us... because the freedom that everyone in this room enjoys... is, in a very real way, in your hands. If we start throwing up walls against what some of us think is obscene... we may wake up one morning and realize... that walls have been thrown upin places we never expected... and we can't see anythingor... do anything. And that's not freedom. That is not freedom. So, be careful. Thank you."

While I'm all for them getting reimbursed for their loss - both physical and emotional, however, in this situation it won't help anything.

The bank doesn't care that much if it loses money. They have learned they are "too big to fail" and that no matter how bad they do the government will give them taxpayer money to stay in the game and screw us over longer.

A lot of you forget it takes a lot of money to sue big huge banks. People who have lost everything are in no position to sue. In fact maybe that's the whole plan. So big banks will regularly foreclose of people without mortgages and leave them destitute and keep the house.

With modern GPS and surveying technology, there is absolutely zero excuse for this. At minimum, it's gross negligence by all parties responsible.

But it's worse.

The crew forcibly broke into a private residence and stole or damaged his property. It doesn't matter if Wells Fargo "authorized" them to do it, beyond the fact that Wells Fargo had no authority whatsoever regarding that house or property.

Pursue criminal prosecution of the crew members. It doesn't matter that they were doing it as part of foreclosure action; it's their responsibility to make 100% certain they had the right house, and if they didn't they were breaking and entering.

When there are criminal consequences for those who actually do the physical breaking and entering and burglary, this will stop. The crew is using Wells Fargo and law enforcement for cover. Don't give it to them.

Wonder if they know which landfill. Bet some family members and friends might just go picking through it to find whatever of their stuff they can find. Especially documents/pictures. Anyway, they will be taken care of for the rest of their lives. They won't have to worry about retirement/old age. Small consolation but still it is something.

The family deserves a big pile of money, and every bank official who's name is on the foreclosure documents should go to jail along with their boss, theft is theft along with all the other crimes they can loaded onto the charges.

The bankers doing the crime need to do the time, enough of this buying their way out of jail.

Keep in mind in most if not all states even in a foreclosure or eviction the owner is required to store the belongings for at least 30 days exactly for things like this.

If you were a landlord and did this to one of your tenants you would be sued and you would lose, even if you had the authority to evict them in the first place, or even in the case you bought a foreclosed home at auction. Wells Fargo on the other hand will probably write them a small check and be on their merry way. Hope they get a good attorney that won't settle for a hand out.

We know the banks are evil, but what kind of heartless assholes could make it their business to go into people's homes and trash all their stuff (ragardless of whether the home is really in foreclosure or not)???

You have to be pretty cold to destroy all of a family's personal belongings, esp. the irreplacable ones, for profit.

The bank and the company who did the physical damage should BOTH be prosecuted. And thugs like this should not be in business.

And criminally prosecute the crew.
They should have established that they had the right house through at least three of:

- GPS coordinates
- detailed map
- talking to neighbors
- prior photos of the house and property
- address marked on the house or elsewhere on property
- accompanied by a knowledgeable local real estate agent

They obviously did none of these.
