Fishing Yo-yo......
cheap, effective and a pretty versatile survival item that takes almost no room in a BoB.

Couple different companies make them Whites and Mechanical Fisher Co. The MFC ones are made with SS springs and may be better suited for a survival situation. Can be used as snares as well.

Ban guns to "save the children" but killing them in the womb is totally cool......I see; it makes perfect sense now.

I have a couple in my survival kits but I've never used them.

They're mostly used in the Deep South to catch catfish I believe, but they're illiegal to use in most states.

I agree with you it is a great survival product to have on hand but note that the YOYO reels have more then doubled in price in just two years however it is still more economically sound to purchase the dozen pack.

Re: Fishing Yo-yo......
I use a baited cane pole stuck down in the river bank and catch all kinds of catfish using squashed dead minnows for bait. Just set out a few poles in the evening and go back in the morning to get the fish. I got quite a few snapping turtles that way too. A three dollar yo-yo deal couldn't be very dependable. You can almost count on one fish for every two poles. Use live minnows for bass and small hooks and worms for sunfish. Cane poles are free for the cutting and the longer ones are superior.

Re: Fishing Yo-yo......
why would anyone want to carry around a fishing yoyo in their pack when they can just cut a pole when they need one?
